i hate not being able to sleep, end up feeling really ill the next day!

i also hate people who don't suffer from insomnia trying to give rubbish advice (ie try chamomile tea, or kalms) i know they mean well but unless you really have insomnia you know not a great deal helps

i'm terrible at sleeping, usually 3-4 hours a night, but i went to the library the other day, so now at least i have lots of gardening books to read while i'm not sleeping, usually wake up in the morning having lost my page..... actually does that mean i'm boring myself to sleep?

Sometimes I sleep OK, other times I am awake far more than my system likes. Lavendar helps me (candle usually, but real lavendar under the pillowcase when I can get hold of it readily), but it wouldn't help everyone. One thing I have found is, if you ain't going to sleep, stop trying and read until either you can't keep your eyes open, or it is time to get up.
If it gets to getting up time and you haven't managed to sleep yet, just keep going until bed time, it is REALLY rare to still not sleep next night!

I've been having awful problems with insommnia recently I was posting on here at 4am the other day, and had to be up at 7.30 coz it was a school day! I've got to be asleep before my OH - he snores and then there's no chance of me getting to sleep! I've got Solitaire card games on my mobile which sends me to sleep most times, I think because the cards are so tiny on the screen I have to squint to see them properly But even that doesn't work once Jez starts snuffling, chuntering, grunting and snorting

              Hello

I had really bad insomnia for a while, drove myself mad...anxiety driven depression which caused horrendous tinnitus (strange but true) and didn't have a good nights sleep for about a year. Finally went to Dr. and got temazepam. I had some reservations about taking them but they are fab. for short term use and you just get a good nights sleep. a few good nights and the world is a better place. I am sleeping really well at the moment naturally but I have a stash for when I need them again as I get really unwell in my head when I have prolonged lack of sleep. so, advice from me is that if it is bad go to Dr. and get something decent to knock you out. take for a few weeks and your body clock should sort itself out. oh yeah, camomile tea and lavendar.!!! if only it were so simple!

I actually think it's one of Stephen Kings best "recent" book - I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I wake up most mornings at about 4 ish and get back to sleep about 6.30 just before the alarm goes off at 6.45. I don`t think the family of five magpies at the bottom of the garden helps though.
Most nights I play solitare on the DS in bed before I go to sleep. I fall asleep whilst playing it and that helps me sleep better. I use to read but have to get out of bed to switch the light off and that use to wake me up.
After having two kids that never sleep through the night untill they were about 6 I think my body has gotten use to it.

It's horrible, I've had it for 20 years mostly on that off. I think you become accustomed to not sleeping and you kind of live with that lack of sleep in the end. I have the odd good month but if I can't sleep I get back on the pc and see what you guys have been doing, have a bath, go back to bed, ceiling fan helps to cool me down and if all else fails I put the telly on the shopping channel with the sound turned down and that works a treat until you see something your interested in.

The worst thing you can do is just lay there worrying about it, get up and do something and try again. I am with you and fully sympathise with those of you struggling, shall we meet online at say 4pm then ?????
I'm new to veggies, but trying !

I took 2 valerian tablets last night, that helps, just a shame they taste like mouldy peas.

It must be the law of insomnia (or s*d) that you have to be the only one awake
