Default Impending wedding

hi folks, two weeks to go and counting...
just needed to let of steam, everything is nearly organised but now things get really busy, why is it that people think you will be free the day before? when in reality i'll be putting up tents and errecting tables and preparing salad! does everyone these days have a wedding planner? and staff?
honestly!
I'm gonna have to get all my herbs potted and over to my florist the week before because she cant spare 10 mins in her busy lady of leisure time to come and cut some!
i have to prepare a buffet for 20 the weekend before because its farthers day the day after the practice so everyone wants to come up with their famillys, I just hope they dont mind me moving stone and decorating while they enjoy it!
ok rant over, you can all go back to your lives now.
thanks

LOL. Hope it all goes smoothly for you. Madmax and I took exactly 3 weeks to plan our wedding so there was very little time for things to go wrong.

oooooh a wedding! lovely. have a wonderful day!

I had lavender in my flowers...the florest kept the plant she took them from and its now growing in my garden 11 years on!

if you have some pick a little and take with you, its lovley to look at little busy and think 'some of you came to my wedding' even 11yrs on
One of the best days of my life and there have been many more shared with Mr H.

All I can say is 'keep breathing' (and smiling). Do try to make some time for yourself to relax, a little pamper and DONT PANIC (best advice I ever had!)

We got married within two months and only had a few guests so it was quite easy and relaxed.

My son asked what I wanted him to wear - response 'clothes please. Dont care what you wear as long as you are there! '

Remember, you ARE here to enjoy yourself. Have a lovely day. X

Hope it all goes well. In a few weeks time the aggravation will all be behind you. Enjoy the day.

Another tip....If there is something that you really want to do on your day allocate a trusted friend to make sure you do it....its so easy to get swept along and forget. I wanted a photo of me in wedding dress on one of the horses that pulled the carriage but i forgot, shame! should have got a friend to make sure that I did it!

I know exactly how you feel - i got married 11 months ago and it was hectic! delegate, delegate, delegate is all i can say! (although, if you're a control freak like me, you may not be able to trust others with your 'stuff'!) i had to in the end - there was too much to do.

Believe me when i say that on the day itself, you really won't be bothered by anything, all those little things that you've agonised over for hours will fade into insignificance compared to you and your new hubby.

Plan to take a few minutes out, just the two of you and stand back and watch everyone having a good time. Its really nice to get away from the hubub for a moment to just be together without your great aunt coming up to hug you etc etc!!

Good luck, and have a fabulous day (and show us some piccies afterwards!)
xx

thanks guys, been delegating since day 1, we have asked everyone to come in jeans but as usual they will defy you! everyone will be better dressed than us by the sounds of things. we are having it our way but it just means a busy two weeks, and I'm sick of people telling me how they did it! as in, "we spent this much on our before dinner outfit!" etc, its our day, we will do it as see fit and the rest can bugger off! so there! rrasssp.
we arnt having a photographer so you will have to rely on the dobbys to take pics when they can, hate having my photo taken, and how boring is all that standing still? dull, dull, dull. the only thing i want to do on the day is dance, and eat some free range organic gloustershire old spot. oh and get wed of course.
protea, i know what you mean, we are having absolute minimum of people playing a part but trying to get them to understand how important there bit is makes us worry. oh well two glasses of champers and i wont care!
I have got my wedding wellies ready but still no shoes, aparently the church would like us to wear some!
I'm ready, just busy, and I cant understand why people cant see why asking me to pot up my garden and take it round,( they dont work for a living, lady of leisure) a week before might annoy me, or why it may be a tad unreasnable to desend on my mother the week before when we are baking for or lives and pouring concreate for the floor.
ah well, herbal tea for me i think, need to get off this horse...

Getting married is not stressful unless you let it be, after all it's only a day and the important bit is what comes afterwards, which hopefully lasts a lifetime. Our wedding was just over 9 years ago and it was a wonderful celebration of us being together and we shared it with the friends that mattered to us. Didn't care about all the rubbish that some people get stressed about and it was a wonderful day for us both - although we can't remember the later parts of it too well!!!!!

The very best of luck for both of you yoanbob. I'm sure the day will go fine for you. Take no/little notice of what others say about what they spent/did, its YOUR day and as long as you and bob are happy thats all that matters. (and yes, I can understand annoyance at florist when you are obviously up to your ears in prep as well as doing the house etc)
I'm sure everything will be ok on the day, relax and enjoy.
Heres to the sun shining for you

Hi Yo!

Dont stress it chuck, just relax and enjoy it! We got married 10 days after getting engaged (6 weeks after we started going out and 6 months to the day after we met!), and only gave the best man and chief bridesmaid a total of 48 hours notice, and the guests a total of 24 hours! It was great, really relaxed and spontaneous!

As for piccies, I'll bring both the cheapo digital camera I use on the plot, and I'll bring my Canon EOS 35mm SLR, so I'll do my best to take some good ones! I'm honoured you trust us to get some good piccies, puts the pressure on now tho, but I did do the piccies for my brothers wedding as the official photographer, but that was many moons ago!

And dont worry, e'll deffo be in jeans, probably even put our faded and stained ones we've been down the plot in if you want to make sure you are better dressed than spomeone! Lol!

I remember the madness - only advice I would give is don't loose sight of why you are doing this. It doesn't matter if the salad goes wrong, who cares if the cake isn't iced. You love each other and are getting married, that is the only thing that counts.

Have a wonderful day, it will all go smoothly (unlike mine - the council dug up the church driveway on the morning of the wedding. Crossing a 1' deep and 12' wide mud gully in cream silk and heels will haunt me forever!)

Blessings on you both

Terry

Best of luck to both of you. It's your day, remember why you are doing it and let the rest of them get on with it.

I didn't have a photographer either, much to the horror of most people I told. One in particular kept telling me how hers had cost £1000 just for the that.
We got married this Easter and have rounded up photos from everyone who was there and we are going to send a CD out to everyone who came.

My wedding was pretty relaxed as we only planned it 8 weeks before. My Mum was quite stressed though as she did the buffet. She cooked enough food for 3x the amount of people we had. LOL.
My Dad had been panicking about doing a speach. He gets nervous speaking infront of people. I had been winding him up for the whole 8 weeks, saying had he written one. I thought he reaslied I was winding him up, but apparently he was still worried that we wanted him to do one.

The only thing I panicked about was that I get hayfever sometimes. When I woke up I was sneezing so I was searching for an open chemist at 8am, as if I don't use the tablets straight away they don't work. I was in that much of a panick I hadn't even brushed my hair or teeth. LOL. Oh and we didn't choose the music until the day before, well one on the wedding day.

You will have a great time.

Buy a load of disposable cameras, dish them out and then collect them back in.

You will have some gems in amongst the chaff.
