  • i'm about to find out if i have a brain eek

went to see the neurologist today, finally, cos of the numbness and twitching i keep getting, spent half an hour or so asking questions, then proceeded to prod and poke me with sharp pointy things and bash me with hammers and stuff.

anyway, he's definitely concerned that there was no reaction by my foot at all when he ran a spikey thing up my left foot, and little when he ran it up my right(i actually thought my right foot was ok

then he was concerned that on the reflex bashing, i knearly knocked his head off with excessive responses ...... serves him right for hitting me with a hammer

anyway i had millions of tubes of blood taken (ok about 12) for yet another round of tests ........ i have a huge big lump now where the needle went in (sulks) hate needles.

and now have to wait for an appointment for nerve conduction tests, to see if they work, and i have to have an MRI scan of my head neck and spine ..... oh joy. ......... but the good bit it, i'll finally find out if i actually have a brain in there or as i suspect, it's all made up of cauliflower

I had terrible trouble with my caulis this year so would quite like to find one somewhere!

Hope it turns out to be nothing as serious as you might imagine.

Frogspawn semolina's gotta be better than the awful pink lumpy rice pudding we used to get!!

My Nan used to cause consternation every time she went to the hospital, because she had no reflexes at all! Didn't matter how many times or where they tapped with their little hammers, nowt happened... Me Dad always said it was because she was born on Halloween, she was either a witch or the undead

Nerve conduction tests, they're not so bad, I had to have them for my wrists (carpal tunnel) and for the nerve damage done by my back thing which means I've got half a numb left foot.
As for the MRI scan, well I'd rather they found rice pudding in my head, than a load of veg... But I won't be going near any big magnets any time soon

i really shouldn't read stuff on t'interweb, but apparently excessive nerve twitches are a problem with the central nervous system and lack of or little responses are a problem with the peripheral nervous system ...... either that or yup you're dead ...... mind you my blood pressure says i'm dead too lol.

I'm trying not to be worried, but with all the questions he was asking, i know what he was thinking, but is trying not to worry too much till i have the scans .... tis a bit hard though

anyway, last time i had a head scan, they didn't have MRI, so only had a CT, to try and figure out why i get headaches and double vision, but they said they couldn't find anything ....... so hopefully MRI scans can at least find something ..... maybe my brain slipped into my ear or something??

i did have an MRI on my arm a few years ago ..... i wish i wasn't claustrophobic lol

with all that metal in your foot, you definitely aren't coming with me lol

I'm a bugger for searching out info on the web before having a proper medical opinion... Sometimes it's a good thing... and sometimes you convince yourself you have cancer & it turns out to be folliculitis
I'm sure your research has told you that the fibromyalgia itself has many of the same symptoms? So, deep breath, and don't panic

                              ((((Hugs))))
