  • If you don't live in the capital, you don't count!

Forgive me all for i'm about to have a little rant...

Thought to myself this morn "i shall treat myself and go to the cinema this weekend" ...been waiting months for the release of The Argentine/Che part 1.
Well, the local cinema aren't showing it - that's ok, its only a small town. I tried the cinema in the nearest city (Truro - which, methinks is still on the small side for a city!) no go there either. Now, i really wanna see this film so i'm prepared to drive to the nearest 'big' city - Plymouth - an hour n a half away... Not showing there either!
I was starting to wonder if i'd got dates mixed up so checked 'official website' - release date 9th Jan 2009... OK, so i'm not going crazy.
I'm visiting family in Nottingham in a couple of weeks so obviously, considering how big Notts is, its sure to be showing there, isn't it?! ...Apparently not!

Just done some googling n its only showing in 49 cinemas in the whole UK - most of which are in London! Can anybody enlighten me as to why a movie company would spend squillions making a film that is only gonna be seen by a few people, which can't possibly make them enough money to cover the cost of making the flippin thing in the first place?! It just seems so ridiculous!

    ...........and breathe.........ok, bit calmer..........sorry

With these things they tend to "roll them out" across the country, with the biggest cinemas (10+ screns) getting them first, and then the next down (5+ screens) til eventuall the little single screen theatres get 'em. Patience required for rural folks' like us

^ as above^ mainly so they can see how well received a film is going to be, unlike a 'harry potter' for instance which they KNOW is going to be well recieved, yep, patience is sure a virtue, cos apparently we IS all thick outside london, and need to be convinced a film is worth seeing by good reviews from london peeps?

me i never go to the cinema

          Screen Room Cinema, Nottingham

It is on, but not when you are here. I'm sure I've seen it advertised at possibly the Broadway [nottingham] or the Quad [derby]...

You could always do as I do, wait for the film to come out on video, and wait a little longer still until its in the sell off section then pick it up.

It does take a lot of willpower though.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

                Hi

I thought I'd seen it - it's been and gone in the Broadway and Cineworld - both in Nottingham. Screen room always has things a bit later on but I knew I'd seen it.

It's not showing here, either, but then we are a whole 20 miles or so from London. I feel your pain. Can't stand the city, but we don't even get our own local news here - we get London. Joy! Hope you get to see the film.
