I have groaned about our lack of sunshine - it pales into nothingness compared to what you are coping with.

My thoughts are with you and I so wish for you to get a Spring very soon

It's a real worry, the sheer volume of snow that's fallen in the last day isn't good. I hope your all safe and well, keep warm and let us know your OK.

Thanks for the thoughts and kind wishes.

We're perfectly fine where we are, near Glasgow. I think the central belt is okay, but the Borders have been hit, and some places up north atrociously so.

Any Aberdonians online? Hope all is well ...

I'm lucky . Where I'm at we have only had a couple of inches of snow. Seems that everyone else has got about a foot of the stuff and its being complicated by ice and wind. A few roads were closed for a while and 300 people had to be rescued off the Glenshane pass (main road linking Londonderry to Belfast) last night .Common scence would/ should have told them not to go up it as its a wild , barren ,exposed upland landscape a bit like the Snake pass or the A66 but some have no wit at all.
Apparently the 20.00 hrs sailing from Carnryan/Stranraer last night didn't get into Larne/ Belfast until 16.30 today -I'm sure there were a lot of happy lorrydrivers on that one .
I wasn't about last night as the electric kept flickering on and off so i went to bed early.
There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore and who always will. Don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it in your future.

My friend was supposed to be travelling from Limavady via Larne to Stranraer early this morning and ended up eventually being sent via Belfast. She got there in one piece late this afternooon, not sure when she'll get to Yorkshire though - I think sleep will be required in the meantime!

She's coming down to visit family GN. I'm absolutely sure she'll be fine - she's not daft enough to drive if the conditions are bad

An absolute howling blizzard here at times today. I was watching the birds fighting over food on the hazel tree out the back where I put the fatballs, peanuts etc, the distance was only twenty feet and it is a sheltered bank, but at times I could hardly see them for reeking drift.
I was supposed to be moving house today, but as I thought it wasn't likely the estate guys would turn up, the driveway is under a foot of snow and they aren't renowned for dedication to effort, the prospect of trudging through snowdrifts with 50 boxes of books is not likely to enthuse them. So I spent the day just chilling....
The Vodafone mobile mast hereabouts is not working this evening (usually a sign snow is building up on cables etc) the electricity has been flickering momentarily all day, so if the wind picks up any more or the cables get any more iced up then I expect powercuts.
But hey, that's why camping stoves, candles and woodstoves were invented... I love this kind of weather, it truly is my natural habitat, I've got my cross-country skis out again !

Snuggling up by a woodburning stove sounds like a good plan Snohare. It's been much worse inland than it has nearer the coast.

We had strong winds and sleet/rain/snow yesterday but as you predicted, it didn't really lie in the City (haven't been up the plot which is almost at the highest point in Aberdeen I think, just down the hill from the Northfield transmitter).

Much better today, dry and partly sunny but still with the cold wind. Still hoping to get up the plot at the weekend or at least Monday or Tuesday, if only to tidy up a bit so as to make the most of the good weather when it comes.

Here's hoping for a change in the weather for the last week of the hols!
