  • Ice cream vans

There I was, on the lotty, cleared the greenhouse, planted experimental winter salad stuff. Harvested tomatoes, spuds, sweetcorn, aubergines, raspberries, runner beans, peppers.

The plot is heavy oxfordshire clay. Started to dig a section to plant onions, garlic etc. Supremely peaceful. Gentle sound of the odd spade, susseration from the occasional conversation, bit of waft from a bonfire or two. Birds tweeting, bit of bottle rattling on the top of poles.

THEN, THEN. I wus driven away by the Ice cream van! I put up with 10 renditions of "Popeye the sailor man" before I gave up and went to the pub..

Don't you just hate having to go to the pub to get away from the "ice cream van"

I think I'd have gone to find the ice cream van. Ice cream, yum yum.

Then if eating to much ice cream had made me feel a little cold I might have been forced to visit the pub (just to get warmed up you understand). Cider, yum yum. LOL.
It is the doom of man, that they forget.

It's when they turn up outside your house in the rain and turn the music on that gets me. My boy absolutely cannot resist icecream

Don't you know, the ice-cream van only rings his tune when he's RUN OUT of ice-creams. That's what Mum told me

My friend actually told her children it was the child catcher! Not sure if that is inspired or abuse?
