They were the bane of my life last year due to the warm winter, so its really nice to have a winter for a change. -9 tonight.

ok so maybe it kills some of the slugs, but it doesn't seem to be doing my veggies much good, they were doing so well too ..... knew i shoulda covered them with fleece a bit earlier

it also kills mosquitos, ticks and a variety of other nasty things that have been surviving winter in larger and larger amounts over the last few years, leading to an increase of diseases like lyme disease and blue tongue.

this cold weather is WONDERFUL!

if your cold find another jumper, another pair of socks etc (hey whats one more layer when you already have 3 on!)

im rejoicing in the cold i must admit, although extremely thankful that i own a swanndri coat and have a whole array of things to keep me warm!

The cold I can cope with, just put on an extra jumper etc. What I can't cope with is the damp. That's so miserable, makes me feel really yukky and not at all motivated to get out and do some work

I hate the cold. For all the carnage it causes to slugs mossies and other such nasties, I live in a 300 year old stone building and it just doesnt get warm.

8.25 am and it's -10.7 in my back garden! I put the thermometer in with the chickens last night and it was -3.4 when I got them up, so I'm happy that they can generate enough heat to raise the temperature 7 degrees. Still don't like it though

I like a cold snap, but does it really have to last for 5 months?

Like Maureen, I hate the damp ... it seems to get right inside your bones. You can't garden, or go for a ramble, or anything.

Try having Raynauds and living with this poxy cold. I don't think I've sworn so much since Labour got into power. Doesn't help that I come into work to find the stupid Italian 'woman' (insert suitable expletive) has OPENED THE WINDOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am still sat here in my hat and gloves after closing it. In the summer, she insists on it being closed as she's 'too cold'. And they say MY circulation is poo!!

Oops, sorry, bit of a rant, there, lol!

I have very few slugs I have lots of frogs on my lottie .......Will the cold kill my frogs?

Yep- I love the cold- I just don't like being cold!

Also don't like how slippy the roads and pavements can be - nor the heating bills

Best bit is a hotty and me man snuggled up in bed...lovely jubbly!!!!

Have to say I'm worried about my lovely terracotta pots when it's this cold

Frogs are "supposed" to hibernate at the bottom of a pond ... I have been up today to lift the ice of the butts and ponds to allow them to breathe (and toxic gases to escape)
