  • I know where Hazel at The Hill is....

She's on telly!: The Great British Menu (Angela Hartnett) on BBC Two, 6.30-7pm.

Hazel, Wellie thinks you're a GREAT chefess honeybunny.... wow! how talented are YOU!
(Bless Him, Trousers is convinced. Clearly, your gorgeous Abbey Crunch Homer DOH! Biscuits have 'run out' in the Biscuit Tin at Holly Cottage, and he's starting to see things....)

Hazel, no, no, you don't have to darling. We were just watching that programme tonight and thinking how very much she reminded us of you, and it made us think fondly of you...
        That's all.

Oh and there's me thinking I've missed something vitally important. Could not POSSIBLY have missed Hazel on the tele!

            Hazel,

I'm wanting to sow those 118's you gave me for Christmas? (Bean Seeds to the rest of you - it's a long story, and it'll keep for another day, trust me...) and one packet contains black seeds, the other speckldy seeds. Could you let me know which is what? or is it a secret?!

OOOh I keep meaning to watch this and keep forgetting it's on. I have very fond memories of series 1 (quiet feeding time with the toddler when she was very small) and managed a fair bit of series 2. But haven't seen any of this series at all.....

And I am thinking (based on all the comments and recipes found here) that there might be a bit of pot and kettle and black going on here?! Maybe what we need is something like Jamie's programme, but with different members of the vine every week - showing their plots and giving their wisdom, then cooking/brewing up a storm!!

From her blog pic, our Hazel is a darned sight prettier than the cooking woman!
However, said woman is shaping up a deal better than the chap who tries out completely new and untested recipes in a competition. Twit! AND his salmon was, to my taste SERIOUSLY undercooked!

Well it is an experiment really - so put your lab coat and intelligent expression on! The beans that I saved from the 118's turned out to be in four completely seperate sorts - speckledy yellow, speckledy pink, mostly pink, and totally black. I want to see if they turn out different from each other too - and of course I had to have 2 different sorts of 118's for you, didn't I?

see Haze bob a curtsey - thank you Flum! Oh - do you want a shovelful of my spare pretty flower seeds for the Village in Bloom doofah?

And Winged One that is an Inspired Idea if I might say so! See the Vine branch out into YouTube with each of us posting a 3 min vid of garden/kitchen/meal a la Jamie!

Well petal (flatter DOES get you somewhere, see!) I wouldn't mind a few evening primrose. I remember spending a happy hour one evening with a glass in me hand watching one unfurl in the old garden. Got none here. Wil PM the address. Ta chuck.

See what you get when you ask a Silly Question Wellie? Uh Huh...A Silly Answer!
(See Wellie put on the white lab coat with the arms that go all the way round and her intelligent spectacles with the eye-sockets that fall out on springs.....)

I shall sow them right away Hazel, and am writing labels for them now:
                      3 Pink Speckledy 118's
                      4 Black 118's

and if I haven't moved to France by the time they flower and actually produce any 118's,
I'll post a piccy up on my blog.

Thank you. That will be all for now Angel!
