  • I had a dream

last night. The circumstances are irrelevant but I became so angry. Explosive even. Today I still feel upset about something and I wonder what triggered these emotions.
Do you have a repetitive dream that haunts you.

I stopped smoking in 1995, for many years after I would dream I had started smoking again, same dream over and over - I always woke from that feeling sad and annoyed with myself.

When I was fully awake and realised it was nawt more than a nasty dream the rest of my day always got better

The other one is my teeth crumbling and falling out, I'm told that is a Peter Pan condition, one of not wanting to grow old

I very rarely remember my dreams, and can't remember the last nightmare I had - mine all seem to be awake/reality ones!
The OH on the other hand, has bad dreams all the time, and often goes through a whole day of being a complete git because he's dreamt that I've done something awful to him and can't sheke the feeling it's left him with...

Can only remember my dreams for a few minutes after I've woken up - is strange, they're dead clear for a moment or two then totally gone and I'll just be aware that I've been dreaming a lot. Mind you I fall into very heavy sleep very quickly and am almost always awake before my alarm so think that makes a difference.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

With me it's aliens, explosions, fire etc. GF is no longer amused about being dragged out of bed in the middle of the night and then being abandoned in the hall when I just give up and go back to bed.......

......the cats aren't amused at being disturbed either - and they spend more time with me.........

Know how you feel Brengirl, its amazing how intense and real dreams can be. I occasionally wake in a foul mood and I'm sure its cos of something I’ve dreamt during the night. Dreams can evoke such powerful feelings which at the time seem real.

Once I finished with my then boyfriend as I dreamed he had been having an affair. Even though I worked out it was a dream, it took days for the feelings to fade and forgive him!

Luckily most of the dreams I remember are fun and often quite bizzare, I love trying to remembering what happened

This dreaming I am smoking or looking for somewhere to buy cigarettes is also one of mine. Night after night I am desperate to find a shop that sells fags only to find I haven't enough money. I may add that 20 years ago I gave the weed up. I replaced it with nicotine gum and am still chewing lol

Hi Piskie - when did I give you permission to have my dreams, I'd like to know?!
All I can say is snap exactly.
Except for another one where I am jumping down a long flight of stairs and float a bit - I never reach the bottom, thankfully!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

and that is a bit of mine Jeanied. At my old school there were flights of stairs and I sometimes dream I am descending them with one hand on the 'rail'. I literally fly. I have also taught myself how to fly. It can take some time to gt up up and away. It is so uplifting... pmsl

My most recurring dream is of always being just ahead of some pursuit. Usually I can fly, but not well, and the pursuing whatever is reaching up for me. I stay just ahead but I can't actually get away.
I used to dream of certain things that I can (with hindsight) recognise as arising from events in relatively early childhood. I suspect the 'escape' dream is a more subtle variation...

I have all kinds of crazy dreams EVERY NIGHT. I do find them quite disturbing and hard to shake, and I know they come from my own insecurities. Last week I dreamt my OH was a sadistic bully and abuser - so far from the truth. I'm still affected by the dream and he can sense there is something wrong. I daren't tell him because I know it would hurt him deeply. SOmetimes I wish I could just flick a switch and turn off my thinking machine.
A good beginning is half the work.

I had one last night - I was in a canoe race across a busy harbour, but there were no paddles, you had to use your arms. I got off to a flying start, but there were others in the race who seemed to have engines.

Then, we had to race back and I asked some dude to look after my watch as it wasn't water proof (having just paddled like a loon with it on...?). He gave me a pint of ale and off I went.

                              I came third.
