Default I feel kinda bad

Background story:

LadyWayne answered the door to someone last week and was asked if we'd take part in a survey regarding t'internet. Woman was quite persistent and LadyWayne caved in when the woman said ok, can I come back on Tuesday. It was then forgotten about.

Then, on Sunday LadyWayne was having her haircut and there was a knock at the door. Some mad looking old lady (looked rather dishevelled and somewhat eccentric) was at the door. She then asked me if I'd take part and I agreed - thinking that I'd get it done whilst LW was having hair cut/coloured. Anyway, invited the lady in and was told by LW to get rid of her as we were about to have lunch (whilst hair was colouring).

I ushered the lady out and she said could she come back on Tuesday (tonight). We agreed - just to get rid of her, but we really don't want to take part in this survey. I think we're illegible anyway (she asked how many hours do we use the internet and i have no idea, it's not like I sit there counting!) as I'm sure it's for people who use it less than 12 hours a week and I'm sure we use it more than that - especially at the minute looking at baby/pregnancy website and baby names.

Anyway, we've decided that the best course of action is avoidance (cowards I know!) so we're going to go out for dinner. Trouble is, we don't know where.

We fancy something different to the usual haunts, but still probably a country pub. Now, looking for a restaurant guide or reviews is easy, but have you ever tried looking for a country pub guide in Bedfordshire?

Anyone know of any good pub guide websites that are reliable?

no idea about the pub ....... but you are going to have to learn how to say NO for when you get that baby lol ....... especially when the bean starts crawling and feeding toast to the cd player and sticking pokey things in plugs

wayne that is very cowardly lol! but i like your plan ha ha !!

apparently there is now a lovely italian somewhere near the "Clappers" (Sharpenhoe), OH was telling me about this the other day, thats not too far from you.

If you fancy a ruby you need to go to Indian Ocean in Sundon Park Rd, its the best.

Make the most of your dinner dates, cause before you know it, it will be cold dinner and cold tea/coffee for the next few years lol!

have a great nite x

Can't help with the pub guide but that sounds to me like one hell of an excuse to go out for dinner - well done

I thought I was doing LW a favour - turns out I wasn't listening when she told me the lady was a pain in the @rse when she first called.

You mean Sinatras - it was The Lynmore. We've been there loads, it is very good (if a little pricey) and has the added benefit of being on our doorstep. Want something a little more relaxed though I think. You should get yourself there though it is good.

As for Curry - we're having that on Thursday, but can't be unfaithful to our regular.

We go to The Star quite a lot (and will probably end up there if we don't find another) - we find Harpenden a bit pretentious (the people) and over priced. The Fancott has gone downhill over recent years. Went to the Green Man a few weeks back (12 of us) and had rubbish service - we didn't even tip!!!

Keep 'em coming!

ok, you are testing me today HW lol!!

if you want cheap, but good food and the place has been done up and its nice inside, then you go to the First & Last just in Dunstable, past the bridge by Sainsbury's, nice grub and not too expensive.

I like the Bell, the food is great, but i know what you mean about the people, just dont tell Squashytom that ha ha !!

I could send you back to your roots - the Roman Way ha ha ha or the Unicorn lol!!! serious i dont go in them lol!!

The Star is good, just dont take Bean with you when they arrive as they dont do kids!!!!!!! very rude indeed!!!!

There are some nice places in Barton, and now the brain has gone dead!!

We may go to the new italian at the clappers on our wedding anniversay!

If i think of anything else i will let you know, but i am sure you know just as well as me ha ha !!

First and Last is where I had my first pub job - it was a Hungry Horse back then.

I haven't been in the Roman Way for years, but I bet I'd still know a few people if I went in there now. Same with the Unicorn. A few of us from work go down to the Poynters Arms (formerly The Centurion) of a Friday lunchtime, cheap burger and chips and a pint of Guiness does the trick. Wipe you're feet on the way out.

Bit of a bugger about the Star, better get in there whilst we can!!

Come on, keep thinking!

Hungry Horse, it still is, but its a lot nicer now! believe me, i wouldnt go in there before!!

i nearly mentioned the Poynter Arms ha ha (yeah it will always be the Centurion to me as well

I think your best bet is The Star, they are a nice pub, just a bit child unfriendly - we walked out last time they were so rude, i must say i find Chalton full of pretentious people!!! lol!!

Or you could try Halfway House, they have a new menu and the food is good and you dont have to book, its quite nice since they did that up as well!

x

Consultants earn a lot of money giving their advice and information, so I've taken the view that if anyone wants information from me they will have to pay. Up to now I haven't been paid but then they go away fairly quickly.

It's in MK - not too bad for us, just 15-20 minutes up the M1.

Have fun tonight.
