It's taking advantage of novice gardeners and is a disgrace.

I did quite well at local GC last year. A pot of sweetcorn for £1.99. When I got them home, there was 14 plants in the pot. £5.99 for carrots is a bit steep.

Just out of curiosity - roughly how many carrots were in the tub?
This one could potentially work out worse than the £1/carrot scam one of the (i think) budget supermarkets ran a while back.

I agree completely and wholeheartedly with that statement. It really is disgraceful. Plenty of people try GYO for the first time by buying plugs from a GC, putting them in at home and looking after them. It wouldn't occur to many of them that 1 plug = 1 carrot.

There were more than six seedlings, maybe about a dozen at a guess.

It took me quite a while to work out you were talking about sick squid.

Ah ok, well - 50p a carrot then... that's OK.

                        Or not.

I seriously can't believe these con artists have such little regard for their customers and the future of their business.

Rip them off charging 50p a carrot (some of which may fail or produce mangled roots) and they'll shop with you once.
Look after them, give them some good advice rather than preying on their lack of knowledge and they'll come back, and back, and back.

I know for an absolute fact that if I'd been had like that when I started out I'd never spend a single penny there again, would tell everyone I knew not to shop there and if I really got a bee in my bonnet about it I'd get a local rag involved and maybe even hand out flyers on the way in over a bank holiday - really make them regret it.

But then - I'm a vindictive sod like that when someone's being so underhand.
