  • How many didn't you see last night!

Meteorites that is.....I watched from about 10pm to just after 12:30am and saw 18 which I guess I should and to a point am, happy with but why do thy always say its going to be a 'huge' meteor shower. My book states up to 50 an hour...... There were millions of stars so I would think that it was clear enough to see the 'huge' display.
Did you watch and if so how many did you see?

We watched between 10-12 (UK time) and saw about 100 decent sized ones- and about as many satellites!!!!

    utterly fantastic, but flipping cold

are they around again this evening??

Not a thing here! Mind you, it was too cold to stay out long.

Did set an alarm for 11pm but slept right through it!

It was cloudy here last night but around 11.15 the clouds parted and for 20 mins we stood outside, in the pitch dark as we are in the middle of nowhere, and gazed at a beautiful purple/midnight blue sky with what I swear were diamonds showereing down.....................breathtaking. Then it clouded over and poured with rain

Me too. I was in bed by 9 o'clock!! (I blame the cider). There will be a few nights of peak meteorite activity before it slows again - shame its raining here tonight

                              Cloud cover last night
So, now I have a question..... if its a shower that is to be seen roughly in the NE and if its a broken up star type thingy and we are seeing a stream of the grit stuffy thats left (tech dispcription?) why do they come at all angles????
Some went from left to right, others right to left, up, down and across the night sky......why?
Please can anyone help me here
                              ta muchly
