  • How little we know about each other!

Yesterday, at the RHS Show, Chris and I were chatting to the lady on the Dyffryn Gardens stand and she asked whether we had been there recently. We said, no, but nearly went last year when a friend was working there.
Lady : what was his name?
    Us : Steve
    Lady: was he a gardener?
    Us : No admin
Lady. Was his name ?Paterson (or something)?
I looked at Chris, he looked at me, and we both said: We don't know (but almost said Its CardiffSteve). How strange it is not to know the surname of a friend. We even wondered whether Steve is, in fact called Steve!

When I dreamt up "Veggie Chicken" I never thought I would be called that in conversation! If I had I might have come up with something a little more ridiculous!!

Do you relate to your profile name?

Haha I have met 'friends' from online and it's always funny when they sidle up and say 'Are you feral' I have to say 'I'm definately feral' But it is funny imaging them walking up to a few unferals and the looks they might get

Ha ha ha. I know when I met Zaz I couldn't call her anything else. Calling somebody by your own name seems weird (we share first names). When I met Binley, I called her Bins and her real name I think. Horticultural Hobbit is always HH to me. I don't know whether I fit my moniker. I picked it purely because I was new to growing some veggies and to lunar stuff and I like the shortened VVG. Zaz even found me a car with VVG on the number plate, for which I'm still saving.
You're VC to me and probably will be if and when we eventually meet.

It's frustrating that I am so lacking in imagination that each time I choose or make up a username for a website I'm told to choose another because the one I've picked is already in use. I dislike having numbers in a username, so I often resort to combining one syllable words until I get a combination that sounds pleasing and, of course, that I can remember easily.

having said that, I do remember that, when we were at Vinstock, Patchninja said she didn't think I was THAT scary

It sounds very grand and fits your surroundings rather beautifully.

I got mine because when I joined my lottie site the men all said "she's the only lady on here with a lottie" . Simples! So LL I am.

We get used to our usernames don't we. And unless we meet up lots of times then it's hard to think of the other grapes with "real" names, isn't it.

I've had stuff posted to me as Mr B. Example. You try explaining that one when you have to collect the parcel from the Post Office.

"Yes, I know my driving licence doesn't say B. Example, but it's me, honest. Look, the B stands for Bad, ok?"

My name has always been shortened to Jax instead of Jacqueline so I get used to it. In fact I get quite taken aback if someone says "Jacqueline"!
