  • How good is my mum?

She made this fab poncho and hat for pickle. Its crocheted out of Aran wool, and she says it took her a week.

Lauren loves it, and is wearing the hat now, even though she is still in jammies .
Mum bringing hooks over Christmas day to attemp to to show me and pickle the basics!

I do like that, looks like pickles going to be nice and warm this winter. Good luck with the crocheting I never did master making more than a chain.
    Location....East Midlands.

She looks so snugly and warm Kirsty, well done Granny, my Mum use to crochet, she showed me the basics and I crocheted a bed cover out of squares, I still have it over 30 years later, really good way of using odd balls of wool up.....Beware Its Addictive.

It's pickle's. She has not had lessons but does strum on it and pluck at the strings. My niece gave it to her when she grew out of it.

I'm the only one in our family that crochets. Actually, apart from MiL I'm the only one that knits although my son has made socks before. Clever devil!

Doesn't she look a sweetie in that outfit? Just the job in this weather.

I always knit but find my grand kids don't want to wear hand knits, they would rather have shop bought, so i now knit dolls clothes if I feel the urge to pick up the needles.

I can do the basic stitches of crochet but don't know how to shape an article, OR how do you decide if you are doing a square or a circle (if that makes sense)

What a fab poncho and hat Kirstyb - and I bet pickle feels it is even more special because her granny made it for her.
It is a good few years since I crocheted (or knitted come to that), Bramble, but crochet is fun once you get the hang of it.* And to turn a corner you put two clusters of doubles or trebles whichever you are using into the same space, and the corner starts to form - otherwise you keep going round and round.* I just love the multicoloured blankets made from squares! Great for this weather.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Super! What a clever mum you have. Wish I could do somthing like that - I'm still on the basics of knitting a scarf!
What was your doggie sniffing in the parcels?
                              Merry Christmas!
