How to give away 'recycling' things?

Do you have freecycle in your location?

Freecycle or visit your local allotments and ask, that way you will make other vege friends too!

I've tried freecycle where I used to live with these sorts of things, and the ads never used to get answered so I gave up. It used to work just fine when I was giving furniture away, however!!

I've noticed a few grapes live in this general area, and just wondered if they would be interested.

I live in Brockham!!! I already have enough rolls and pots, but freecycle in Mole Valley is VERY active and most things get taken.

I do share your frustation, though. Most recycling stuff ends up being binned in this area, as the council doesn't take it or advertise where WE can take it! There is a website, recycle now, but the nearest recycling point for yoghurt pots is Southwark!

If you know anyone with chickens, you could give them your egg boxes?

Is there somewhere you could put them within sight of passers by? Secure enough from the wind and foxes? I walked passed a skip the other week outside a house and there were about 40 odd plant pots of differing sizes - obviously place right on top for people to take. I took about 8. Is there a skip nearby where you could put them on top? I know people pay for skips but I'm sure if you put your stuff on top it would be taken quickly.

Ooh, you're just around the corner! It's so frustrating throwing all the plastic out, and I accumulate so much with a 2 year old. My old council used to take almost all the plastic for recycling.

I'm fairly new to the area, so don't know many people, and haven't yet met anyone who has any chickens! Do you know of any???

I will have to give freecycle another go then, and see if it is any better here than where I used to be.

I live in a private, very quiet cul-de-sac so very few passer-bys, sadly.

The other alternative is to contact your nearest primary school or nursery? I know from experience that they get through loads of stuff like that for craft & construction type activities. They generally don't take loo rolls though because of hygiene issues.

With freecycle, it depends on the time of year.

I posted a 'offer' of loads of plant pots but no takers last autumn. But, now - on a daily basis - there are want ads for the same.

Try offering it as 'recyclers planting kit...'

I often wonder what to do with/make use of the plastic tubs that the washing tabs come in - these ones....

I always look at them and think 'I should be doing something clever with you now that you are empty'

You know how men always have to save oddments of nails/screws/plastic twiddly bits etc. "just in case" (well my OH does, and so did my dad for that matter) - well these are perfect - stack them in the shed and they can actually see what they've got (still never use them however, but at least they can look at them - isn't that on another thread somewhere?).

Also would make a good seed box.
