  • How do you make yours?

Cup of tea or coffee that is.................
I've always made up a flask of coffee and took it to my lottie - until today!
The other day I visited Allotment Lady and she made me a cup of tea using her little stove and kettle - I was most impressed.
I went and got myself a little stove and whistling kettle today - so I'm all set now to make my own fresh brews in my little shed - I'm SO excited!
How do you make yours? Any tips on using a stove and kettle?

I just made my first cup of tea this year yesterday evening at the allotments. I have a Kelly Kettle as we don't have sheds (and hence, no stoves) on our plot. I have to admit, I still have to get the hang of lighting a decent fire in such a small area, it takes me longer to light it than it does for the water to boil!

I think if I was further away, I would have a little stove, but it is only 3 minutes from home on the bike so I just go home and go back after lunch. I take a bottle of water or a coffee made at home in an insulating flask.

If I'm in real need, there's 3 pubs between home and lottie, we sometimes have to stop off on the way back, esp in the summer as the light is fading, for a cheeky shandy.

Good idea - my lottie is next door to a pub, but I only go in there alone if I need to use their 'facilities' but then I also have to use the bar - to be polite of course!

My new lottie neighbour brings a little gas camping thing with him so for that and other reasons (ie sees off the interfering busibodies) he and his wife are my new best friends

flask or bottle of water for me,

only got a wendy shed down there so it's not big enough to do anything except store.

i look at the others with great envy with log burners and stoves, but most importantly, big comfy sheds...

i will have one of those one day....

My shed is only 6' and 4' but big enough for the essentials - tools, chair, and now my tea making facilities

My shed, greenhouses, raised beds and veg pots are all in my back garden, hence I pop home for mine!

Stove and kettle for me. I leave a small jar of coffe a few tea bags and sweetners in a plastic box with a lid. Also I have a small saucpan and a tin of soup, soup mug, spoons and mugs in it. I just take water and milk with me.

Thanks Jackie. I know this sounds daft, but I wasnt sure about storing t-bags etc. I know about taking fresh water and milk. Will sort out the other essentials as well. Im SO excited! Offered to make OH his night time drink on my new stove! LOL

I have a stove and whistling kettle too I have a tray next to it with jars of; coffee, tea bags, sugar, herbal tea bags, powdered milk and instant hot chocolate. The coffee, sugar and milk jars also have a few dried peas in them that helps to stop the contents from going into a lump in the bottom of the jar I take my water from home in 5 litre bottles that previously held mineral water.

Rather sadly, although my plot is only at the end of the garden, just 100' from the kitchen, I still love to brew up using the Kelly! It's more fun and tastes brilliant!

I used to make up a Thermos, but I cycle to my plot, and it takes up space that I need for plants, seeds, change of clothes etc.

So now I buy multipacks of diet C0ke once a month or so and leave them in my shed. I still get my caffeine kick. That chap out of the advert has never popped up though ...

My lotty neighbour has a whistling kettle ... but he would put it on for a brew then wander off to chat to his mates.
One day I heard this whistling. Took me 10 mins to figure out what it was. Then his gate was locked, then his shed door was locked ... I didn't know where he lived or what his number was, and nobody else was around.

When he came back (he'd popped home for lunch) his kettle was burnt out but luckily his shed didn't catch fire.

I am very forgetful, so I wouldn't trust myself with a stove.
