I crawl out of bed, start the car's engine, set the blower to screen, climb out and relock the car using a spare key, go in and have breakfast. Easy Peasy.
When I were a Maintenance Engineering type person, I used to position a caravan (12 V) hair dryer to the sterring wheel facing the window coupled up with a 12V battery that had seen better days, I used to go and turn it on an hour before I ended my shift.
In another position I used to position my van under the welding bay air extract and fit a bit of hose through the window. Also worked a treat.Cheers, Tony.Semper in Excrementem Altitvdo Solvs Varivs.

I have a spray bottle of de-icer which works well. I also stick the heating with aircon on max which speeds things up a bit.
Most of the time we don't have too much of a problem as at the moment we rarely need to go out first thing. Hopefully that will soon change though.

Autoglym do a fab deicer but the big car has a blasting system of its own which has it clear in about 60 seconds minimum. It's a feature I like. No more bank cards in a morning although those loyalty cards are quite good too

I tend to do the same as Kleftiwallah and start the car, put all the blowers on and go inside and have a coffee whilst everything warms up Having said that, I also have a silver "jobbie" that goes on the windscreen to keep the frost off - if I remember to put it on the night before, that is

I've always used plastic window packers as scrapers as they have ridged edges which cut through the thick stuff really well. combined with a pair of golf mittens to keep my fingers warm. I don't do de-icers, as I often have to move the car to let the missus out in the morning and the de icers tend to re freeze making the second time much harder.I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.Comment

I have a 2 litre pop botle with 8 tiny holes in the cap and fill it up warn water and use like a water pistol there is enough water to go all round the car and with modern glass you do not have to worry about glass breaking. jacob

Since we had the extension built I'm lucky enough to be able to keep my car in the nice cosy garage but if I do have to deice I only ever scrape - don't like the spray things and find water just refreezes.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

I've heated windscreen/mirrors, so turn them on which is great.. but I also put my car in the garage if it's going to be frosty.
I used to plug a fan heater in, and stick it in the car whilst I had breakfast - lovely and warm when I got in and frost free

Put the car in the garage and on the odd days when I have been lazy, I use de-icer.
Don't get a cheapo one though. I bought one from the local market and it does nothing except freeze back on the windscreen in a lovely light blue shade. :-)‘you cannot discover new oceans unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore'Comment
