I germinate my seeds in the conservatory, kitchen windowsill and on a table next to a radiator in the dining room. I am aware that I have a problem with slugs (and occasionally snails) getting in. I lost a whole tray of seedlings last year in one night to the blighters.
My pots and trays are now in those long trays intended for growbags and are protected with copper tape round them. I stop most of the slugs getting in at all but some brave ones make it although not as far as the seedlings. How snails get in is beyond me. They can't get their shells through the gaps in the door.
So how on earth did a snail get past all my defences? I found it snuggled up cosily next to a herb seedling in the dining room this morning. Bloody cheek
