  • How do I work this out (greenhouse staging slats)

I've a bench partly built in the greenhouse - have some slats ready to go on it. I've put the end two on - I have 22 more to go. They are 38mm wide.

The area to fill is 1.52m

I can't seem to work out what spacing I need between them to make an even(ish) gap allthe way around.

    Any idea? :P

    I can't do maths

I have the same issue, but mine came with little foam spacers. Even using the spacers the gaps aren't even, so I haven't stuck any down yet, I just shuffle them along until they look right

You have 24 slats at 38mm = 912 mm needed for them. With a slat at each extremity, that leaves 608mm available for 23 spaces or 26mm approx each space. That's roughly an inch for each space but you may have to jiggle about a wee bit with a few slats to make it look right. The easy way is to cut an inch wide piece of wood the width of your bench and then move along a slat at a time. Hope that helps. My brain hurts now.

Slide them all up one end, measure the actual space you have left and and divide that by the slats you have minus 1 [23 in your case]

about 26mm if the 1.52 is the total length. 28mm if the 1.52m is the space left between the 2 end slats.
