How Do I Go About Researching This Please?

suppose the first thing you could do is just google for hospitals in the location you know already, that would give you an idea of the size of the task, then try to find a website/contact number for ?public relations or press office etc. maybe a quick email to them may get the ball rolling. does your birth cert have a region or area, may narrow it down a bit further

if you have a full birth certificate it will give the address your parents lived at when you were born ....... the small ones won't have this, when you know the town, you should be able to find the hospital, and in theory, you may be able to contact them to find out,(you now have the right to see your notes) or try your doctors surgery, your medical notes will have this, and maybe? your time of birth

Lovely thoughts..
I googled earlier today, and got everyone's political life stories and epistles to do with that Town, and no spesific Hospitals that I could directly link to. My birth certificate gives the town of the country,which I did Google, so knowing that town, how best to find out the name of it's Hospitals to start my ball rolling without getting those Politics?

yellow pages?? royal mail? phone book ...... knew there was a reason for them still making these lol ....... they used to have copies at libraries, dunno if they still do. thomson local, multimap (works if the hospital is still there)

If you were born in a Commonwealth country, then the public archive office in Kew will have more details than you have now.
If it was out of the Commonwealth then you will have more difficulties, but most countries even 100 years ago held hatch,match and despatch registers, thus you would need to find the country in question's government offices as a start.

Are you sure you were born in a hospital??
It could have been a 'nursing' home or your own home.........

I know that I was born in South Africa peeps, so I'm not sure Yellow Pages or Thomson Local will come to the rescue on this occasion!

once you have the hospitals, then you need to research which hospitals had a maternity unit, this may take phone calls or a trip to the library, i am always loathe to bother switchboards , they are busy doing other stuff, but emails to each hospital bursar asking if in such a year, they had a maternity unit, will give you a list to work from, pick the one closest to the address you mother lived at, and start there, again use email, and bear in mind they are very busy dealing with the living sick, ask if they have a contact for someone that can help with past records.
I can understand your desire to know, i was lucky, my mum recorded the time of my birth in my baby book, i did the same for my boys, as a pagan interested in astronomy and astrology it was important for me to record, but....and i say this with all respect, be patient, if you can't find out, it doesn't matter anyway, and our hospitals are really up against it admin wise, your requests are not going to even be middle of their list to deal with.Whilst the results, if you find out may be interesting, they make no difference to who you are or what you can become.

only just noticed you were born abroad

i have a friend from south africa, she's 75, and very knowledgeable, if you want to let me know the town too, maybe no help, but i can at least ask her for help in how to go about it

I must say, I'm touched by your private messages of help, thank you....

With Two Sheds having located three main hospitals in that town for me (thank you Sweetheart. X) I can now start to contact the right people in the right places.

And yes, I can positively assure the 'worried' amongst you, that I will be most respectful of the fact that my quest is far less important than the patients they are currently treating!

Sheds - are you SURE I can't tempt you to an enormous selection of 'Thank You Seeds'?!

And if I eventually succeed in finding out what time I was born, just any of you try and stop me yelling it from the rooftops!
