I have a wasps nest in the earth underneath an untidy patch in my garden, covered in ivy, bindweed, rotten pieces of bark etc. It was discovered when trying to clear the area and there is an obvious hole where the wasps can be seen flying in and out when disturbed. What is the best way to destroy this please?

Don't destroy it - just leave it and be carefull, the wasps will all die off very soon, they should have all died by now but the warm spell has prolonged them a little.
Remember we are all entitled to this life on earth

Please,please don't destroy it. All these little do-good-in-the-garden creatures are getting in short supply. No-one will know what benefit they are to us until they are all gone and it is too late!Comment

The only gardeners with a good reason for getting rid of a wasp nest are those who are allergic to stings, or those who keep bees. Wasps and bees don't mix!Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.Comment

The wasps in my mum's garden love the windfall pears. Unfortunately for them, it would appear pears ferment on their own, because they're covered in docile, drunken wasps!

My Dad's greenhouse was invaded by Wasps during late summer - they had a fantastic time getting absolutely plastered on the all the over-ripe Grapes.
