The year goes by so quickly, I'm going to end up internet shopping again at the last minute. Can't do anything in December except haul out the tree and decs, as shifts at work change to 12 hours.

Read an interesting article that said the older you get the faster the year goes, because proportionately a year is a smaller part of your whole life. So if you are four years old, a year lasts a long time, because it is a quarter of your lifespan, but if you are fifty then a year is only two per cent of your lifespan and soon whizzes past. I think that's what it meant anyway.

Sometimes I wish I was like Merlin, living my life backwards. It would be far more interesting that way.

Is it that the year passes more quickly as you get older, or your memory becomes worse and you can't remember what you been doing during the year?

Well, that's certainly true in my case. I started to keep a gardening diary, filling it in once a week, but gave it up in July - I couldn't remember what I'd done on which day. I can't remember seven days in one go! I think I'm a lost cause.

We're waiting to hear whether my husband will be made redundant at the end of the year. May be very low profile this year. Why do large companies pick their timing so callously?
