Default How annoying

We have just re-mortgaged to get a better deal than we had before.

Our new Building society were great, and we had free solicitors supplied by them to undertake the legal side of it.

We were all geared up to complete on the 1st of this month and thought we had, we even got a confirmation letter from the BS confirming our payments and dates.

Several days later we get a solicitors letter saying it had been put back to the 11th for some reason and as we were borrowing only enough to redeem the mortgage, there was now a shortfall of £400.10. This was paid and everything finally went through on the 11th.

So, if we had a shortfall, how come I got a cheque from the old mortgage company for £859.73 this morning as we had overpaid when redeeming their money?

Are the solicitors not there to prevent this from happening?

When we bought our house I had to explain most of the paperwork to our solicitor then they had the cheek to say we hadn't paid enough so I told them to feck off
About 3 months later we had a letter from them (Mrs G was sure it was a summons for non payment) it turned out that they had charged us £100 to much !! SO I wrote and asked about the interest that I'd lost ... didn't get that though

Are you out of pocket, get a statement breakdown from your old BS? I would say you get what you pay for but your solicitors were free!

If things went wrong that were due to their mistakes then I presume you'd have some come-back?

Edit - oh and even when you pay for solicitors, as NTG says you have to keep an eye on them, normally most of the work is done by clerks and the only input from a solicitor is if you complain to them! Lol!

That's annoying PW

When we moved to our current house we never got sent a copy of the survey even though the IFA kept chasing for us. Eventually he found out that they had referred our application to head office because our valuation showed work that was needed that they said we weren't getting done. Because of that we weren't allowed to borrow anywhere near what was originally agreed. It meant that we could afford to do any of the work on the house that we wanted to do other than get radiators put in. We also couldn't pay off our debts so my Dad had to bail us out. We've only just consolidated my Dad's loan back in the mortgage with our new mortgage company.

The most annoying thing was that when they looked, they saw our survey in their file so realised they'd never sent it to us and it should never have been referred to head office so we would have had all the money we needed!
