Sorry to hear your news. Get another one to replace, this does help the situation. We always get a new dog when one dies, plus it helps the remainig pet if you have one, it does take some of the heartache away. Condolances to you both. So sad. Take care . Kind regards judith & family

Sorry to read about your cat Nicos. We have lost several of ours on the road over the years, always quite young ones. It seems that if they can get old enough to get used to the traffic then they are safer. Nothing can protect them from those that think our roads are racetracks though. Thinking of you, take care.
It is the doom of man, that they forget.

Really sorry to hear this Nicos
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

Oooh, I've lost one like that - such a shock. Cuddle the other(s) and tell them about it. Feeling for you.

Thanks for all your support folks.
We've just been raking up leaves and talking about him.
Neo was my cat from the moment I got him ( to replace one we'd just had put down). He'd sleep on my head most nights and sat draped over my shoulder when I watched TV.He'd even gently nibble my chin with his front teeth when I came home from wherever.
He was 7 years old so not a youngster and was used to town traffic. I suppose rural roads are so quiet he just wouldn't have been expecting a passing car- esp if he was hunting a shrew or something.
Problem is that we feel so guilty about bringing him to rural France. He loved it here and was rarely seen without a mouse drooping from his mouth.
Yes- I'd replace him quickly- if 'replace ' is the right word to use. Problem is that we intend to move between the 2 countries and the 6 months wait after rabies vaccinations is going to prove a difficulty.
Our other cat won't miss him much as he's a loner- maybe now he'll demand more attention.
We plan to get a rare apple tree tomorrow and plant him under it. Right next to the potager and garden table.
You know- as I'm typing this I can hear the hunters shooting- thank goodness he wasn't shot and lay wounded for hours .
Give your pets a little stroke whilst you have them folks. It's so easy to take pets for granted.
At least it wasn't one of my children or another family member of the human kind.

So sorry to read this Nicos. The little blighters sidle their way into our affections and then leave such pain when they go, don't they? Going to give my old dog a hug now and be thankful for each day she's still with me.
