    Help!!!! - new strange virus on the vine

    Can't report it as the red triangle disappears- it signs in as mmomil c9 or something - phew - it's gone - fast work someone!!
    No it's still there can any one else help report it - you have to scroll right over to get to the red triangle

    Bumping this as I can only report one every 60 seconds and it is posting faster - can anyone get onto it too? I think it has stopped at 6 postings but I'm not sure I managed to report all 6 - just don't click on any of the links in it! I'm doing a full computer scan as I type!

      Pm a mod chuck or report the post and we will deal with it.

      I have composted the blithering idiot who was posting spam. Thanks for the reports, they give us a link to the offending posts.

        Thanks for the advice, PW - I wasn't sure which mod was 'on duty' - it felt like table tennis at the time - I'm not the sporting type!

          When you click the Red Triangle and report a post, it sends an email to all the Mods with a link to the offending post If the same person is posting lots of spam messages, we can get rid of them all in one go with our Buttons of Power!* so don't worry if they are posting all over the place, we'll still get 'em!

          We really appreciate you Grapes being on the ball whenever we're not around though, it really helps You should never click on a link within a a suspicious post, that's the only way they can do any damage to your computer - just looking at the post can't do any harm, and they definitely aren't doing any damage to the Vine

          *They're not really called that, much more boringly it's called 'Delete all Posts by this User'.

            What should we do if we just see an obviously dodgy name signed in?

            I have clicked on them, and been taken to their profile page, but don't know how to report them. Although, sometimes when I click on them I just get a message telling me I don't have the authority

              If you get a message saying that you don't have the authority, it's coz they're already banned, they just haven't noticed yet so they're still online

              You can 'right click' on their name and do 'copy shortcut' then paste that into a PM. But chances are they'll get picked up later on and binned, because I tend to do a search for new members and chuck out the obvious ones every couple of days.
              Mostly they don't do any harm, except clutter up the members list - they join, add a link or URL to their profile, and then disappear. The URL on their profile still shows up on a google search which is why they do it. Kind of piggy-backing on us to get a better hit-rate. Cheeky beggars...

                  Cheeky beggars indeed - but when the mods shine their torch of scrutiny on them they become all lucifugal and they scuttle away! Catch that one OllieMartin!

                      This idiot was still posting earlier today, I reported using the red triangle, but it took ages to get him cleared from the Vine. Why do they do it?
