  • Has Your Get up'n'Go Got up'n'Gone?

Just lately I've been feeling pretty lethargic, can't be bothered. I put it down to the time of year & find it a struggle to motivate myself to do owt..............anyone else feel the same?................I can only assume it's S.A.D

No. I'm one week into a very strict low carb and low sugar diet and, after the shock of the first few days which almost had me reaching for the biscuit tin, I'm feeling better than ever.

Could be time of year or diet. Could be because it's at the end of the main growing season.

Whatever it is, I hope you perk up soon
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

I've just come across Sians' Winter thread so will have to look on there for inspiration.

Think we all go through seasonal cycles, me, I love being over the plots in the Autumn, maybe because I like closure and putting the beds to sleep for their winters nap gives me a sense of satisfaction when I sit and reflect on the season gone.

February is when I struggle for motivation. Short days and frozen ground.....I have no other hobbies so the month drags. Hopefully the new plot will keep me busy

Yes, me too I went through a really lazy patch and so have a few of my friends. I have found that smoothies help me a bit, I guess it is a vitamin boost or something. Whatever it is, they taste great anyway

And me. Not really sure why, just feeling a bit demotivated and listless.
Team Europe's poor start to the Ryder Cup isn't helping either!

                  sympathise BM .....
Just so flippin' tired all the time ~ and the thought of starting another 'diet' makes me want to run (well, if I could be bothered...!) screaming from the room ...............

The GH is slowly emptying of things growing ~ just sweet peppers & chillis in there now ......
Garden is looking raggedy and needs clearing up ........
And there's still half a leylandi forest lying on the back lawn waiting for something to be done with it .......

                  ..... sigh .....

I'm glad it's not only me although I empathise with everyone feeling the same way. Looking back to last year I remember having my drawings & scroll-art to occupy my mind, maybe I need to look for a winter hobby............I hate jigsaws..............

I'm trying to get into electronics - bought a soldering iron and a serial connector - trouble is my first project isn't going too well so it'll probably all end up stashed in the back of a cupboard next to Mrs B.'s teas-maid and other kitchen 'must haves'
Storm weather permitting its our plot's end of season bbq - so I'll have to push myself to get the gazebo up and put the chairs out and all that. Might give me the kick up the butt I think I need at the moment...

I'm also suffering from s.a.d. , except the s stands for slug. When most of my carefully sown overwintering veg has been slugged it gets a bit depressing

So far, so good here. In the past I used to feel down at this time of year and often just found myself feeling relly sad.
I did feel a bit meloncholy today taking down all my Sweetpeas and a lot of my tomatoes but tomorrow in October and the weather is still being kind.
