  • Has my IPod gone to heaven?

Me and my Ipod touch got caught in the rain last week . It didn't seem too wet, as it had been in my bag during the 5 min heavy downpour I got caught in. I left it to dry over the weekend, but now it won't switch on. I've left it to charge for 24 hours and no sign of life.

Can it be rescued? If so how?

It may have some moisture trapped inside the casing. Put it in a bowl of rice (uncooked!) for 24 hours and see if that makes a difference?

I dropped my old Nano in the bath. Twice. Left it on the Bathroom radiator for a week (it was mid winter, so the heating was on) and it was fine. I have also read of people putting them in their airing cupboard (we didn't have one), or on the cooker top when the oven is on. So anywhere consistently warm, but out of direct sun, should do it, although it may take over a week. May also need a reset, if it has that faciity. G**gle should be able to help. Good luck.

Ooh so many techie casualties today. Ok first thing - charge it. Is it an old iPhone or new 4 and under warranty? The latter cannot be taken apart, the formers can and whilst I don't recommend it, this is your option Z! They have moisture sensors inside. Try placing somewhere warm, not hot. Top of a low turned radiator shelf would work but on a radiator - no! Next to a radiator on some books maybe. But charge first.

I've got all sorts of this modern technology malarky wet over the years, even dropped my Blackberry down the loo once.
Everything I've ever got wet that threw a hissy fit has worked after a few days near to a warm radiator, opened out if at all possible.

I think the Gadget Show did a "best way to dry out your gadge" (careful), and the rice method was featured.

Come to think of it, I'm sure they used mobile phones, but principle's the same I'm sure.

Looks like all is not lost. Years ago, one of my children spilled loads of water down the back of the television (luckily it was off at the time and it was my fault for putting a vase of flowers on there). It didn't work until Himself came up with the bright idea of putting the warm air of the hairdryer on it. Result, we didn't have to buy a new one.

I read somewhere that iPod batteries have *about* an 18 month life (only)

You'se are all scaring me. My fruity Phone Four is currently unfit. Wouldn't charge for days, had to hold it in funny positions. Have backed it up, and now it won't restore itself. Pooter doesn't recognise it. phone people have distanced themselves, and the apple-y helpline could have been in Mumbai. have to go see a genius tomorrow. I am not a happy hobbit

Message for HH from Mr VVG

Have you tried a full iPhone reset?, not just a power down, but a full restart.. Have a look at this link How to Reset iPhone - Reboot a Stuck iPhone

After a restart, try putting the phone into recovery mode as per this link,Using iPhone Recovery Mode - Get Out of iPhone Recovery Mode

                      hope this helps

I've put mine in a bag of rice and will put it in the kitchen when I'm baking later. Its an old school touch and was an award from an old employer, so I've never had a receipt or warantee. Its 3 years old and up to last week, has worked perfectly.

Thanks for the advice, I hope all is not lost
