  • Has anyone been ...

... to either the West Dean Chilli Festival or the Isle of Wight Garlic Festival?

I was thinking of going to one or both of these this year and wondered if any Grapes had been before and had any opinions?

Or can anyone recommend any other events over the summer, preferably Chilli or Garlic related?

No, but I was looking at these events and others...as we are hoping to come back to Cornwall for a week in the summer and I'd like to plan to slip one in on the QT.

So, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread...

I haven't but my big sis went a few years ago to the Garlic festival. She liked it, even though she's not a passionate GYO-er or anything, she likes good food and thought it was interesting I seem to recall. She had garlic ice-cream, I do remember that bit!
      I don't roll on Shabbos

If anyone lives in the Herts area, there is a chili festival in the village of Benington (at the Benington Lordship), it has been going for a few years and is quite popular and getting larger.

They also have their gardens open at the same time.

Have seen both on TV, Rick Stein I think, both looked a super day out! If you go, do let everyone know what it was like.

That's where I saw them too DDL. I've never been to the IOW and neither has OH, so thought we might go exploring and make a weekend of it. If we can't do that, then West Dean is only about an hour's drive from here, so I could do that in a day. Will report back in August

Went to the Chilli Festival in 2007 - had a fab day out! Parking poor - but it is in a small rural village. Entrance fee only £2 - several different exhibitors - I recall chilli-chocolate stand; some peanut/chilli savoury snack stand; hot food available; fresh produce and samples of chilli chutneys and things and a whole lot more!
Yes, Benington Lordship gardens are available to wander about in too! I enjoyed looking at their veg garden!
