Hmm, I've seen a few stories today that just made me stop and stare at the screen in disbelief. A few left a lump in the throat.

I try and give what I can to appeals for aid when these natural disasters occur but this is the first time I have been moved to tears by what we are witnesing on our TV screens.
It is the doom of man, that they forget.

It's heartbreaking - all the people who have lost so many loved ones.

We came close to being involved in the Boxing Day tsunami five years ago - these things are brought home pretty starkly since then.

I'm sparing many thoughts for those thousands of people affected.

I can't believe how long it is taking for the USA to get there to help. It's right next door!

They live in a quake zone, so should at any point be up and ready to assist.

The UK guys with dogs got up and to Heathrow to leave and were only hindered by the snow here; so the USA should have been there pronto.

Isn't it horrifying? I can't watch they news reports without crying. It's gonna get worse before it gets better for those poor folk.

Some of the ladies in our village asked me yesterday if I'd help with a coffee morning to raise funds. Of course I agreed. They said they'd had some negative remarks though, when mentioning it in the village, from people who said it was costing them more to heat their homes this year so they couldn't be donating to things like this. At least they still have homes to heat! I know enough people will rally round and support the effort though. You just feel you have to do something, don't you?

I think they have, it's just landing they're having a problem with. As I understand it, planes have been turned away because they can't land them.

Like Rhona we too were close to being affected by the Tsunami, and when you think about people you met possibly being involved in something like this it's just horrible.

Some people don't think it's so bad:
BBC News - White House calls Robertson's Haiti comment 'stupid'

US Christian Broadcasting Network said, "They said, we will serve you if you will get us free from the French [colonial rule]. True story. And so, the devil said, okay it's a deal," televangelist PatRobertson said during the broadcast.

It is horrifying seeing the dead bodies by the roadsides & injured people lying in the street outside the hospitals. We moan about a little snow & these people have to go through all this.
Into every life a little rain must fall.
