  • This guy reversed into my car....

Last night I was waiting to make a safe right hand turn into my road, and this guy just reversed his BMW from a side access alley into the back of my car!

'Oh, I thought you'd carried on past' he said. 'Here's my name, call my office and they'll give you the insurance details'.

Fairly shocked at this point, I drove the last couple of hundred yards home (damage appeared to be relatively minor body work). Got through the front door and realised I haven't taken the guy's vehicle reg! Derrr!!

This morning my back was really stiff, so took some ibuprofen. By 10am I could bearly move. Just been to the Doctor, who said i haven't broken anything (didn't think I had) and given me some mega painkillers.

Think I might spend the rest of the afternoon spaced out on the sofa! And the silver lining to this cloud is - that his BMer came off worse than my Focus, well hey, it was his fault after-all.

What a prat. Why don't people use their mirrors anymore? Hope you're ok, Becki. Take it easy and have lots of choccie (it cures everything, didn't you know?).

Glad you don't have to got to the Doctor to be prescribed choccie Sluglobber - I've just forked out for two prescription charges - painkillers and an acid suppressant (sp?)

Oh yeah, and he was on his mobile at the time (hands-free, but still).

Isn't that illegal? Report him to police?

I need to duck out of this discussion now, because I've been hit twice by drivers (on my bike) who said "I didn't see you" - that's because you weren't looking, you prat

...I may have to look that up TS, though tricky to prove as no witnesses stopped, but I could hear a voice coming from his shirt pocket saying 'hello...hello...is everything alright?...'

Go to the police and report it, also claim! You can claim against him and get a FEW QUID out if it, enough for a greenhouse or shed??? Its whiplash and he is responsible, I hope he has admitted responsibility.

            Need any help, just yell!

            Hope you feel better soon

What a d***head. Hope you are ok Becki. Sounds kinda Karmic that his car came off worse.
Call the number he gave you, because he would have to report the damage to his office/insurers anyway if it was a company car (I'm guessing, so someone may correct me)

What an Idiot. My OH was hit by an untraceable driver a while ago that gave a false address etc and he was able to claim, ( cant remember how ) call your insurers and they will take you through it. You should do that anyway.
Hope you are ok I have had whiplash and its not nice.

Hope you're feeling a bit better now Becki.
Hands free is legal & you'd have difficulty proving he was on the phone anyway. As he said ring the office for the insurance claim it was probably a company car so he wouldn't mind that it was damaged, it will be whisked away & fixed for him at no cost at all. Make sure you get full compensation though as he admitted it was his fault.

Thanks guys, I spent most of the weekend on some serious painkillers from the doctor and it still hurts like billy-o today, though I've decided to go into work (still on the painkillers).

It would appear its his own company, and the secretary was very nice about it and gave me all the info I forgot to take on the night.

My insurers contacted me just as they said they would on Thursday, and I advised them about my back. They said they'd get the legal dept to call me. They also said they'd arrange for the nearest approved repairer to see my car, and to my surprise, one hour later they had called to book the appointment, now thats service. I thought they'd leave it til after the bank holiday, but no.

I am surprised how much pain I'm in considering how slow the accident was, imagine if he'd been doing 40 or 50!!!
