    Tuesday is Groundhog Day

According to folklore, if a groundhog emerging from its burrow on this day fails to see its shadow, it will leave the burrow, signifying that winter will soon end. If on the other hand, the groundhog sees its shadow, the groundhog will supposedly retreat into its burrow, and winter will continue for six more weeks.

If you have seen the film you will know what I am talking about:

    Make it a good day,
do something you always wanted to do but never got round to,
    learn a new skill,
say hello to those people you see every day but never let on to,
    smile at everyone,
take public transport instead of using the car,
chat to the people in the shop you buy your newspaper or morning coffee,
    help someone out

if you haven't seen the film then go rent it and watch it on Tuesday.

“If your knees aren't green by the end of the day, you ought to seriously re-examine your life.”

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." Ralph Waldo Emerson

Charles Churchill : A dog will look up on you; a cat will look down on you; however, a pig will see you eye to eye and know it has found an equal

Tuesday 2nd February, is also Candlemas, and the old saying is:-

If Candlemas be clear and bright,
Winter will be back for another bite.
If Candlemas be cloud and rain
Winters gone and won't be back again.

                      Which I've heard as,

If Candlemas dawns bright and clear
There'll be twa winters in the year.

which is much the same thing!
