  • Grapevine Xmas Album

I don't think we have ever had a xmas album before so I thought why not start one...........I could produce an album all of my own but that would not be in the spirit of the Vine. Please feel free to add a song which means xmas to you, whether it be a chart hit or a lovely Carol (No pun intended VC).....Hopefully once it slows down, our very own BB may be able to get his merging stick out so they can all be on one post.................sorry BB.......

Right, enough of this waffling, let's get this show on the road with:

The Pogues Featuring Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale Of New York

I love the pogues, it's my favourite of all the mainstream Christmas songs.

Here's one slightly different from one of my music heroes, Jake Thackray: the nativity from a male perspective...

John Lennon - Happy Xmas (War Is Over) - YouTube

So this is Christmas....actually called War is Over by John Lennon.

First song that came into my head when I read this.

I was just about to post the same choice and clip as yours Feral007. A very sad video indeed, and a stark reminder of some people's realities.

Well, I'm away for the weekend and can't seem to add a link with my phone for my favourite Christmas song.

Jona Lewie - stop the cavalry

It always brings back school memories

I love Carol of the Bells - it's a good fast carol, not very carol-like at all (not like our own Carol, who is! )

Three brilliant up-to-date catchy versions are

[Official Video] Carol of the Bells - Pentatonix - YouTube

Carol of the Bells (for 12 cellos) - ThePianoGuys - YouTube

Carol of the Bells [Acapella] by Barlow Girl [Lyrics] - YouTube

I could listen to them all day, simply brilliant!

I've always liked this one which is strange as it's nothing like my normal musical taste.
I Believe In Father Christmas - single by Greg Lake - YouTube

Oh, having now watched the video and read the comments, it was obviously subliminal for me.

So many Christmas songs are sad with a message and its usually those that they play non-stop in shops - I don't want to be reminded that I'm a year older and what have I done So for me, it has to be something toe-tapping like

Shakin' Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone - YouTube

Of course, I have a favourite Carole, but I'm not putting up a link to any of her performances

Feed the world for me a true heart wrencher while were all tucking into a food filled frenzy there are still people in 2013 drinking dirty water and dying of hunger always makes me think how lucky my family are even though sometimes feel like everything's going wrong we are all clean, fed, watered and healthy
