  • The Grapevine challenge!

I thought it might be fun to see what we Grapes can come up with..... by changing the lyrics of this fantastic song to something gardening orientated??!!

Marvin Gaye - Heard It Through The Grapevine (From "Live at Montreux" DVD) - YouTube

I Heard It Through The Grapevine Lyrics

    by Marvin Gaye

Ooh, I bet you're wondering how I knew
About you plans to make me blue
With some other guy that you knew before.
Between the two of us guys
You know I love you more.
It took me by surprise I must say,
    When I found out yesterday.
    Don't you know that...

    (Chorus
I heard it through the grapevine
Not much longer would you be mine.
Oh I heard it through the grapevine,
Oh and I'm just about to lose my mind.
    Honey, honey yeah.

I know that a man ain't supposed to cry,
But these tears I can't hold inside.
Losin' you would end my life you see,
'Cause you mean that much to me.
You could have told me yourself
    That you love someone else.
    Instead...

    (Chorus)

People say believe half of what you see,
Son, and none of what you hear.
    I can't help bein' confused
If it's true please tell me dear?
Do you plan to let me go
For the other guy you loved before?
    Don't you know...

    (Chorus)

    Honey Honey I know
    That you're letting me go
said, "I heard it through the grapevine"
    Heard it through the grapevine......

Oooh, I bet you're wondering how I grew,

All these plants, to make a stew.

      .....
the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.

Happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have.xx

My friends think I'm such a bore

I'd rather dig than go out to play...

I Heard It Through The Grapevine Lyrics
by Marvin Gaye & adapted by Veggie chicken

Ooh, I bet you're wondering how I grew
A pumpkin that's as big as you
With some other guy that I knew before
We kept watch outside the stable door
You know that manure makes it grow more.
It took me by surprise I must say,
When I saw its size yesterday.
                      Don't you know that...

                      (Chorus
I heard it through the grapevine
Not much longer will it be mine.
Oh I heard it through the grapevine,
The Grapes are coming to eat mine,
                      Yummy, Yummy, Yeah.

I know that a man ain't supposed to cry,
But I can't keep it hidden inside.
Eating it would end its life you see,
But the Grapes mean so much more to me.
You can have some seeds yourself
To pass on to someone else.
                      Instead...

                      (Chorus)

People say you'll eat half of what you see,
and the rest will be left here for me.
                      I can't help bein' confused
If it's true please tell me Delia dear?
Can I turn it into soup or stew
For the others, or won't that do.
                      Don't you know...

                      (Chorus)

                      Yummy, Yummy, I know
There are other seeds to sow,
"I heard it through the grapevine"
                      Heard it through the grapevine......
