  • Grapelettes.....unusual meats!

Just popped into Leclerc to see what offerings they have over the festive season.....

OMG!!!...what a choice of 'culled' meat..

I have bought elk, reindeer and camel...and left many other meats ( sadly in ready made sauces) ...zebra, kangaroo,bison/buffalo,wild boar, and others.... about €7 per portion ( enough for 2 peeps)..I think there was also Llama , Zebra....urmmm... ( concentration lost at this point! )... all 'culled' professionally...

    Bit different eh???

That's an amazing list Nicos!! There was a phase here when the supermarkets stocked unusual meats - kangaroo, crocodile, ostrich and others and it was a novelty for a while - but it didn't last long. I don't look at the meat shelves now

It's a world apart when you compare UK to different countries isn't it???

We drove past/avoided a pheasant on the motorway a couple of days ago playing 'chicken' on the motorway....Happy to say he was still alive when we passed him!

Bren- I've not had pheasant for at least a couple of years!!!...yummy yumm!!!

Anyone else having 'unusual meat' ???

They had capons and massive geese in the farm shop. Not exactly exotic.

We used to buy ostrich burger in bulk from Oundle farmer's market - they were excellent for the BH who, at the time, had a huge undiagnosed gallstone. Lean and game meats seemed to be the ones that didn't set off the pain.
