  • Gott in himmel!!

There is a guy who is supposed to leave here this morning, forever. His work is done so off he goes.
I have arranged the military escort to get him to the airport. I have sorted his customs paperwork to enable him to take "stuff" back through to Germany, my work is done here so I go to bed.
At 1am I get a phone call, "Oh by the way Bob, I dont have my passport back from the visa department yet."
Oh well done Fritz. This morning is the first day of Eid after the end of Ramadan (Eid Mubarak everyone) so nothing is going to be open until Sunday.

Now, if that was me, I would have been mentioning this passport issue before, quite a long way before in fact.

    ********* ******** ****** is what he is.

Deep breaths - you've only got a few more weeks. Just tell yourself that the poor fella can't help being so stupid!

The gentlemen concerned is now back in his accommodation here in sunny Algeria (possibly with Mrs Ghadaffi and her offspring) whilst he waits for the end of Eid and the visa office to open again.

And just to make my day get even worse, I've found out this morning that I have a month longer here to do than I had thought. Gutted.

You've got to admire that German sense of humour.

Said gentleman is now becoming very tiresome. As he speaks no French or Arabic he's calling me several times a day to ask for progress. For heavens sake Sir, imagine its Christmas in the fatherland. Nothing is open apart from the shops. Its the same here, nothing will be open until Saturday.

                              His reply?

                              "I see no Christmas trees."

                              Words sometimes do fail me.
