  • Got pulled for drink driving....

......last night and completely passed. Not surprising as I've been pretty much teetotal for 3 years but:

A: the police man was addement(sp) he could smell alcohol
B: didn't give me a reason for puling me in the 1st place
C: I STILL worried it would say I was over the limit despite the last 'drink' (5 sips of a wine spritzer) was 2 weeks ago

Went round my friends and a cuppa to get over the shock and then home to bed.

    High drama on Wednesday night.

I've only been driving for a little over a year, but I've still not even been looked at by a copper.
I'm always worried that if I'm not totally cooperative with them when I do, that they'll find the smallest thing wrong with my car. I'm sure they're supposed to give you a vaild reason for pulling you, but I'd be concerned about quizzing them on it as I'd guess you were.

Hmmmm. That sounds all wrong. I thought they had to give a reason for stopping you in the first place?!

Bit stressful for you, even though you knew you'd done nothing wrong. (Funny how teachers and police can still make me feel uncomfortable... )

Just goes to show doesn't it - I always follow the rule never to have anything when driving - there is no such thing as a safe limit.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

I always thought they had to have a reason to stop you too but I think they must get permission for 'blitzes' etc. One night last year we were coming home & the police were stopping every car as it approached the roundabout which everyone has to use to enter our town & saying good evening & asking if you'd had a drink. O.H. was driving & said he'd had one pint earlier in the evening followed by a soft drink (which was true), the policeman asked him to breathe in his face (yeuch!) & as he didn't smell of booze he said 'O.K. you're fine, thank you.' They were asking other drivers to get out of their cars & take a breath test so I suppose they could smell drink on them.

I quite fancy becoming a copper.. shame there's a recruitment ban on until next year.

Still if I pull any of you, just say "I'm a grape" - and I'll let you go

Definitely nerve wracking - it happened to me late one night and made me shake for ages. They passed me, turned round, came up behind and pulled me over. I locked the doors and opened the window about 2 inches, the guy stuck his nose through the window and said I hadn't dipped my lights when they passed me - total fabrication, I was still driving through town and hadn't had the full beams on at all!! He sniffed a lot and asked where I was going, where I'd been, told him I was the designated driver and I was on my way home - didn't like to say I was just on my way to join some friends at a lock in!
Life is too short for drama & petty things!
So laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly!

I got pulled over once and asked if I had been drinking. I answered no, cos I hadnt. Then they asked me to step out of the car. It was this point they realised I was extremely pregnant, (one week to go!) At this point I smiled broadly and said " do I look like I have been drinking?" I told them I desperately needed a wee so they sent me on my way.

I used to get pulled over all the flippin time; as I used to drive a Ford Capri [happy happy days].

I never ever drove after even a snifter...I was also the one in charge of the Pringles as I was the 'sensible one' amongst all my chums.

On one occasion they pulled me, I was 100% clear [of course] and they went over the car with a fine toothcomb. apparently one bulb was out at the back. During the inspection, I managed to soak one with the windscreen washers [snigger] and when they let me go saying that one bulb was out I thanked them profusely as I'd only bought the car the week before and was too skint to put it in for a service so was extremely grateful for the info.

I did ask one time, did I get a 'well done' for passing but they just sneered at me. Silly old bu99ers.

One of the times I have been stopped was when I was driving a race prepared (road legal) ford fiesta XR2 down to Brands Hatch for a race meeting at 4am on a Sunday. The officer was driving a small van (optimistic or what) few questions later he decided to let us go (well it was raining). That was the day I wrecked it at Graham Hill bend then drove it home again.....

The ex-OH says that I drive like a drunk blindman at the best of times which is probably why I got pulled - cheeky git!

I spoke to the other ladies this morning and they said I was very cool & calm about the whole thing - little did they know I was shaking like a leaf as soon as I pulled over.

Its all a bit mental though. I knew as soon as I saw their headlight in the rearview mirror (yes I use it for the correct thing) that they were police, they just kept getting closer and closer and then sat on my bumper for a good 2 mins.

They also wanted to know how old I was, which is another random / stupid question.

Well I spoke to the 'girls' this morning and they said I handled it really well and seemed totally cool about it - thank goodness it was dark, otherwise they'd have seen my jelly impression!
