I downloaded IE8 last night as IE6 would not let me view Youtube. However I found it so slow, it took forever to boot the PC. I have now downloaded Google Chrome as my default browser............wow, the speed is superb. Is anyone else using this browser & any tips. Thanks in advance.

Up-to-date versions of all the major browsers offer tabbed browsing.

I didn't notice it with IE8 but then again I didn't use it for very long.

I've been using Chrome for ages, having used Firefox before that, and I find it much faster than FF or IE. I'm in the process of learning my Mac, and playing with Chrome, FF and Safari at the moment. If I can't find a easy/free Ad-Blocker for Chrome, I'll be going back to FF as the Adverts drive me daft!

I'm a recent Firefox convert and love it - IE was giving me many problems which don't appear to happen in FF.

Is Google Chrome Firefoxesq? Is GC run off the back of a.n.other?

It works as a browser/search engine in one. I liked it immediately I started using it, but I have to say they are all much the same. On my PC and Lappy I found Chrome far quicker. On the Mac everything's quick! I still can't bladdy type tho!!!

Opera's a fairly stripped down browser too.

IE6....in 2010? The Microsoft Updates should have updated you to IE7 and 8 by now. Firefox and Chrome are fast browsers. FF gets slowed down a bit by all the addons you can have running.

It depends on the operating system, IE7 and above wont install to Win 2000 and below if IIRC

We've been using Firefox for ages now.(started when there was an IE scare and never went back)
I tried Google Chrome but ended up back with FF...out of interest,if I've downloaded a different browser do I need to undownload it if I've chosen not to use it?Will it in anyway clog up the computer have lots of different ones on it?

It shouldn't interfere with the system but if you'd rather get rid of it you should un-install it via "Add-Remove Programs" in the Control Panel.

Well I've downloaded G Chrome as a result of this thread. Can't say I notice much speed difference. I like the fact that you can see more on the screen, but the favourites menu is driving me nuts!
You can only access favourites (called bookmarks in Chrome) when you open a new tab, which annoys the hell out of me. So if I want to switch to a favourite I have to close the current tab, open a new one and then choose.
Unless anyone knows another way of doing it.
