    Good news about the parking ticket

    Thanks to you all for the advise on the ticket I got. I had already written to the company before I posted about it here.

    My son called me this morning (i'm still in Ireland) to say I had a reply from them and that they accept that it was a genuine mistake and they will cancel the ticket

        My advice remains though, to not even get into a conversation with these private parking companies. They have no authority and can only force you to pay up by taking you to court, which costs them more than they make off your "ticket".

        I had two stroppy threatening letters from them, which I ignored. They have now stopped arriving.
        (Oh, and I wrote to the head office of the supermarket that uses them, saying I would be withdrawing my custom if they continued to employ the parking company. I said I'd be happy to pay the going rate for parking, but I would not be paying £70 for going 16 mins over my allotted parking time).
