  • GOOD IDEA? Write It Down....

I can't begin to tell you how much I absolutely love to read about growing stuff..... and unfortunately, I've got one of those brains that takes nothing in, unless it really, really wants to. So that means I have to read things over and over, then I forget it. Get my drift?!

My point is, that I am forever reading things that I think 'wow! that's just brilliant.... I must remember that, and implement that in my veg plans this year', and when I want to look it up again, I can't find it. Because I can't remember which book I read it in now, and I have so many?! And by that time, I've forgotten what was such a bl**dy good idea in the first place, let alone where I read it......

And I do that with Recipes too.....
I see a fantastic recipe, and interrupt Trousers, who's watching Sport (again for a change...) and I end up in the same boat.

WHY DON'T I WRITE IT DOWN WHEN I SEE IT?!!!!
Please, please - Don't be like Wellie.
Be Sensible and make a note of it - then you won't be tearing your Partner's hair out unnecessarily Girls....

Hi Wellie, this might help you find which book things are in.

I keep an address book with an ABC index thing.
I note recipes etc under the appropriate letter and write a note of the book, page number etc. Then I can just look it up and there's the info.
I'd be lost without it .

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

He he he......this reply is just going to be genius....as a woman I can feel it already!

I heard this item (I think on Radio 2, could have been Radio 4.....can't remember already)!

It was about Mind Map, remembering things by thinking things and things and stuff!

I think it was today, but been confuzzled by the bank holiday and I still think that today could possibly be Sunday, only the kids are not at home so it must be Monday!

I did go to the bbc website looking for a link for you from the 'listen again' section, but could not find what I was looking for.....doh!

Hmmmm.....I do try, I know what I want to say, and what I mean, but it just doesn't come out that way!

I keep a very strict diary, and a very strict journal, I remember nothing and have to refer back time and time again.

Sooo old and so disappointed with my own ability to gracefully remember absolutely nothing, I even have to rely on my other half to finish my sentences

I am sure other people think I am dotty!

Ooh! now the family is growing to Mrs. Bond Wellie, or Mrs. Wellie Bond.

Anyone from Specsavers want to join in?!

Jennie, lucky girl with the Address Book. Think we could have a special Grow Your Own DOH Book (notebook) as an 'across the board' prize for Runners Up in the Virtual Veg Show this year? It'd be dead useful....

Wey hey specsavers.....well D & A for me, but all the same thing!

After paying a monthly DD of 30 quid for many years of contact lenses, I have decided to visit the laser people for eye related business.

Do you think that if they manage to sort me out, my memory will get better?

If it is so, you will be privvy to the new, improved MrsB stylie remembering stuff thingy!

Go me mid may at the laser clinic thing what will improve my life beyond measure.....in theory!

See Wellie close her eyes tight and do that searching around thing with her arms in the dark routine!

Anyway. If LET'S GROW VEG Magazine (and that's a fantastic magazine for up and coming peeps wanting to start growing their own, I must say) can have Mr. Fothergills do loads of packets of seeds speshly for their latest mag, Wellie thinks a humble notebook for the Virtual Vegetable Show as a prize wouldn't go amiss MR. FOTHERGILLS are you listening!!!

If you want a note book to use while in your computer, try google notebook : it is simply brilliant!
I use it when I do my research before writing essays, it's very easy to use and also it's on the internet, not your hard drive : that means you can access it from any computer! (at work for example...)
you just have to set up a google mail address... by the way they also have a calendar which is very handy...I use it for all my gardening plan!

I am also lucky enough to have a very savvy database guy on my side.

If I moan at him enough he sorts out various databases to store my info at the touch of a button.......for this I thank you MrB and forgive all the many taking apart to see how it works style experiments man stylie!

I used to have these sorts of conversations with my staff; now I don't have any staff [hurray] for the time being - anyway.

One of the ways that I remember things is, keeping labels around the house; by that I mean those mailing address labels; 21 or so to a page. When I see a recipe I would like to try I write it on the label; if it works it gets stuck in my book - and if it doesn't it gets thrown out. I am quite anal about crossings out in books; so won't allow that so the label thing works for me. I also put any scribblings and plans, notes, reminders on them and stick them in if needed again.

I also have a list of customers to call for new business, all on labels. If they bite, the info gets stuck in my diary. I've used this method for about 8 years now; it used to save me carrying about loads of printed off data [which I stopped my staff printing out as soon as I became boss; they had no concept of saving paper].

In my endeavours to be a better gardener I have often been in a garden centre and looked at a plant/flower and thought, "ooh, that's nice, that'd look quite nice over by the...." I look at the name of teh plant/flower and then I've forgotten what it's called by the time I leave the garden centre. I bought myself a little pocket noteboopk the other day for that very purpose.

LadyWayne calls me Dory after the forgetful fish in Finding Nemo.

Useless information however?! Now that's stored forever more.
