  • Good God Kittens Are Irritating

So, after giving in to the growing pressure from Mr Shortie, we now have a kitten. 6 weeks old he is. We lost one of our two cats (they were brothers) to some idiot (I think the word I want to type there would be editted, lol) racing down our narrow residential road last November. After an intial quite spell his remaining brother perked up by bugging the two dogs instead - it was quite hillarious watching him creep up next to one for a snooze to find the dog wander off when it realised, only to have the cat do the same wherever it resettled..

Anyway, 3 days ago "as company for Pip" we got Mojo. The female dog is the least impressed, but otherwise all is fine animal-wise. But oh my...... remind me never to have a kitten again????!

He's house trained with if absolutely great but he scales the sofas like he's spider man, and shoots across my laptop keyboard before I know what's happened, by which time I'm 7 pages back in my 'net browsing history, have Caps Lock suddenly on, and all manor of random stuff typed into the address bar. More fool me for leaving the dangling cat toy thing upstairs and being too lazy to go and get it eh?

Heck knows how long this goes on for... we got the brothers from Battersea when they were between 1-2 years old so were blissfully unaware of all of this, lol!

It will settle down a bit in twenty weeks or so, but they can still be very playful for a good while after that. I enjoy the crazy antics of kittens, even though mine destroyed the wallpaper in every room - but it's just paper on a wall, they have given me so much pleasure that I don't care about the damage they've done.
Tried and Tested...but the results are inconclusive

You seem to have neglected to post any photos of Mojo, Shortie - surely you realise that these are mandatory?!

                  Cute! Kittens are so naughty!
I said we were not having anymore when we lost Jasper last summer, as our 2 older girls are 10 and becoming too old and wise to leap about (although they drive me nuts as they ignore the scratching posts and prefer the carpets), but then we rescued Suki and she is now about a year old and is still naughty!

She has just discovered my children's goldfish, and spends a looooong time thinking up ways to get it!
She also comes down the garden every morning and ambushes whoever feeds the chooks!
And she comes into the room and announces herself with a very loud Miaow! and usually jumps straight onto the kitchen table in the mddle of tea!
                  Naughty naughty naughty!

Ooooh he's gorgeous, just like my Tippy from years ago. I had two kittens at the same time so they could go mental together. Yes they used to chase one another up the curtains and along the curtain raiI and try to hang onto my legs as I walked along but they were such fun to watch.
I get too attached to pets so have not had any for very many years.
Keep saying to myself - I must NOT have a kitten, I must NOT have a kitten.......

Think the mods had bigger and better words to worry about last night

I only have experience of one kitten/cat. He and his sister spent the first week hiding behind the cooker....dread to think what your Mojo may be like when she's 'settled'

                        She's incredibly cute.

I do want to, that's the problem! Not fair on them though, I'm not in much and I'd have to rely on neighbours to feed etc.
At the moment I'm "borrowing" my friend's new Border Collie pup. I've always been terrified of dogs so am being really brave now with him - we're both on a learning curve!

Mojo looks like our Desmond. He's going on five now and still a little sod......! Regularly has the fish out of the pond.

And don't talk to me about shredded wallpaper (Laura Ashley too, £1 a roll ) as Tilly has shredded my newly replaced wallpaper already, and attempted to start on the maps that the bathroom is papered with.

Twenty minutes ago, Honey threw up her breakfast all down BH's laptop (sat on it's side on the livingroom floor) she also threw up in the hall and the diningroom - never run whilst throwing up, toooooo messy.

Oh yeah, and I tried to have a lay in this morning but ended up being shoe-horned out of the bed by Gussie, Charlie, Cleo, Tim, Des and Mouse.

Des has just arrived in, soaking wet and gone to blot himself on the BH, who cannot move fast enough to get out of the way of soggy moggies.

So, er, good luck with your little one!

I've gone all broody. Maisie cat is not impressed.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?
