  • Global Warming?

    Yes please!

Id like some warming in Buxton, Derbyshire, as I am sick of the hail I have been getting in August!!!! My poor little plants need all the help they can get and being covered in hail stones the size of gum balls is not good!

What is going on with the weather??????

    Rant over, thanks

It's not global warming, it's climate change.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I'm having a hot water bottle tonight - I'm making it up now.

1st Sept and on the hot water bottles. Sheesh.

I have come close to putting the heating on but cant... its just wrong! My neighbours have had the woodburner on already in the past couple of weeks. Ive never known it this cold in the summer before.

Im hoping that once the kids go back to school next week, the sun will come out again hehe

Its been really humide the last few days here, we had a bad thunder storm this afternoon, it absolutely chucked it down.

I agree, it's not often that I complain about Pembrokeshire weather, but it's become ridiculous, RAIN, RAIN, RAIN and more RAIN. Last night we lit the wood burner it was so cold, today has been a little better than forecast but tomorrow more RAIN. We've got slugs almost the size of a banana and it's so wet that nothing can be done on either the lottie or in the garden. I am completely FED UP WITH IT!!!!!!!

Sorry I don't often go on but this is depressing!

We've got cracks in the soil you could fall down. Send some of the rain down south, it would be most welcome here.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

We had the first shower for weeks last night, and very welcome it was too. We've had hot, dry, windy weather all August, and all July was heavy rain and gales.

I think that is the reality of climate change ... not the Mediterranean ideal the redtops used to sell us.

The summer has been so dry here I've had to use a mattock to "dig over" a patch of ground. The garden fork just wont touch my concrete beds. A little more rain would be welcome.

You see.....didn't we have summers like that in the 70's????

I used to live in Kent and nearly every year we had hosepipe bans.....so what's changed?

We had a huge thunderstorm, with hail. I'd gone to my daughter's as we were supposed to be taking number 1 grandson to the lottie to collect eggs - there never seems to be an egg there when he visits, so we'd made sure there were a few first - and so he could check on the progress of the pumpkins, which at the moment (aged 4) is the only crop he cares about. Her road turned into a river and we had to abandon the whole thing. Also rain is forecast for the foreseeable future and I like to clean out the chooks' houses on a warm day, preferably with a bit of a breeze. No chance. I'd be happy for it all to go down south...even for just an afternoon.

When I made the Christmas puddings last year it was Remembrance Sunday, I noted that the leaves were still hanging on my little rowan tree and what lovely colours they were!
They are starting to fall already....noticed this over the weekend so it was still in AUGUST!
What is going on this year....We have so many leaves on the ground here.
Yesterday we were for our pains treated to what seemed like April showers (squalls)
It's all very strange. Have they messed with the weather? or should that be

                              And....

....why are the weather forecasters so vague or, even, down right wrong?

You just can't get a decent forecast these days, they are never accurate. Not even close.

This humidity is hell for tempering chocolate - we've just had to buy a dehumidifier.
