I paid for a gift subscription to a magazine for my daughter and received a DVD shaped box which I wrapped for her. SIL has just telephoned me to say that when he tries to activate it at the website address given, it looks like you have to pay for it again. I've just had a swift look and it seems he might be right, so I've given him the order number and told him to telephone the Helpline given when they are open tomorrow. Anyone had any experience of gift subscribing please?

the way it works for me is: you pay the subscription fee as yourself but when you set up the delivery address you put the information for giftee not yourself and then they should get their 1st copy of the mag as and when, normally feb of the new year if my subscriptions are anything to go by.

you're right in saying speak to someone with the order number just to check - i would expect them to say they're sending the next issue on xx Date and alls well.

Thing is, I didn't gift it to her address because I wasn't sure when she'd want to start receiving it, so I paid for it and they sent me the package to give to her (I order it in November) so wrapped it up. I'm guessing that there is an 'activate subscription' button somewhere on the web site where you enter the code that is on the reciept/in the box.
If it is not clear, if you put the above into the web site's search, it should point you in the right direction.

Hmmm I just had a look at the good food magazine on the B*c website and assume this is the correct magazine?

How To Redeem The Subscription
Enclosed in the pack is a registration card. The recipient simply fills out the enclosed form and sends it back in the envelope. Full instructions to activate your subscription can be found on the reverse of the gift pack. This magazine subscription will run for 12 months from the date of receipt of the first magazine
failing that, on the actual good food website, you can register and manage your subscriptions from there so maybe you need to register and change address
