I recently used moonpig. Unfortunately the flowers could have been a lot better. I wouldn't really recommend sending flowers by post, and what with the postal strikes, they may well be dead before they arrive. Sorry to be so negative.Originally posted by BumbleB View Post

Hi BB - I have used Guernsey flowers several times for my MIL in Belfast - I always send oriental orchids - she says she likes them and the exotic flowers are quite good colours- she gets them to last for ages by following the instructions they send - either that or she is so polite she doesn't tell me!Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?Comment

I've used Next flowers, they were good but expensive. But I usually use Teleflorist because the flowers are delivered by a florist local to the recipient rather than sent in the post, so the flowers will be fresher plus a small/local business gets the money

M&S are good - I've sent and received quite a few of their bouquets, and always really nice and fresh. Lasted ages too.I don't roll on ShabbosComment

Thanks for the response guys. I have a couple of the sites up now and I am trying to decide. Its for a birthday, and I fancy a living plant instead of a multi bouquet. Its nice when you have good feedback regarding a company.BumbleB

I don't like the national / international companies - poor value for money and very impersonal.I prefer to find telephone numbers for florists in the town I want to send the flowers and deal with them direct.
I keep a note of the telephone number of the florist alongside the person I send to in that town.
I find I get great personal service, exactly what I want to send for a much better price than the big companies.
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.Comment

This is exactly what my brothers do when sending flowers to Mum for her birthday or Mothers' Day as they both live away. The big companies tend to have set choices and everything is the same no matter who it's for, or where you live. Not only does the local florist give much better value for money she will make things up exactly how she's asked to, so a bouquet containing Mum's favourite flowers or colours is never a problem. They also get to talk to the florist personally, so can tell her the best time to deliver, or ask her to phone ahead and tell her she's coming - it sort of spoils the surprise, but after a couple of bad experiences with aggressive salesmen Mum is now getting to the age where she's nervous about answering the door to unexpected callers.Originally posted by Alice View PostInto each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

I agree that if you do know a local florist then you can get great service. When I send flowers to my MiL, I always use the local florist as they will use the flowers I know she prefers; know exactly where to leave the flowers if no-one is in etc. Also, if they don't deliver a good service, they know my MiL will not hesitate to tell her friends... and in a small town with three other florists, they can't afford to get a poor reputation!

If I'm not too late can I recomment Wiggly Wigglers? They do BRITISH flowers grown on their own farm so they change during the year to what's in season. You can get big bouquets, posies, wreaths etc. They come in plain cardboard boxes for recycling, all very eco concious.
My mum was delighted with her bouquet. The flowers lasted for ages, were well chosen and arranged.
