I called out the Gas Board three times to a leak that they insisted didn't exist. I was convinced we were about to be blown to kingdom come, then I discovered that our new neighbours thought that all recipes (probably even puddings) needed about ten cloves of garlic. To me gas and garlic smell exactly the same, but now I at least don't call out Transco every supper-time........though if there's ever a real leak in early evening, we're all dooooooomed.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

I could smell gas in one room since we moved in here. "nobody" else could (or didn't want to think about it )
Anyway, I finally called out the Gas Man, who shut down our system. 2 freezing days later a repair man came, and said he'd fixed it.
              I could still smell gas.
              Mr Sheds said he couldn't.

Then he could. Got another repair man round ... he tested it and said "that's weird, you have an intermittent leak". Anyway, he fiddled and diddled, and it's all OK now.

It was a pain for a week or two, but I'm glad it's fixed. I can now concentrate on fixing my draughts.

Is there a big hole outside your window now Lynda? Like Bluemoon I sometimes think onions or garlic smell like gas, last night I was asking O.H could he smell gas & I was checking the oven , fire etc. & then realised it was the smell of onions I'd been cooking!

Ah yes, but they get paid for doing that. They probably want a day's pay rather than 10 minutes pay. Besides, their poor ickle fingers and toes were probably getting cold and nobody had made them a cuppa tea. Hmmmmmmmmph

which reminds me, i forgot to tell you all yesterday, two men turned up in one of those lorries with a lift thing on it? to check out my leaky roof yesterday.

which was great, right up until the point where the lift stopped working and the poor guy on it was stuck up at my guttering level for half an hour until the engineers got here........... i will admit to laughing my head off, cos the poor guy was freezing up there in pretty strong winds, i had to pass him a hot cuppa out of the bedroom window to thaw him out

I could smell gas walking back from the pub the other night. I did report it (I was slightly drunk) and there is a load of barriers around there now. My other half did try to take the credit for the smell but I can spot his a mile off.
