A few of my horticultural horrors......:

-I tried to propagate rudbeckia by way of root cuttings

-I massacred a helenium in full-flower thinking it was a weed

-I tried to take cuttings from crocosmias.....going as far as potting them up and waiting for weeks!

In my defence I was very much a newcomer to gardening when these occurred.

    Have you got any confessions?

I weeded out all my Rebeckia seedlings and left some very pretty leaved weeds!!

I slung snails into the next door allotment after he complained about my manure heaping smelling when he was in his green house.....three weeks later he had the cheek to ask where I got my manure as he wanted some

In the first year of living here, I weeded out a load of wall flowers. Whoopsie...

I always throw snails over the fence. It's up to them to find their way home.

I pulled out my Cardoon seedlings thinking they were thistles! Thankfully one survived!

Hoed out a row of parsnip seedlings - didn't notice and thought they were weeds.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

I thought couch grass would make a nice edge to my beds.
I planted mint in between the spuds one year (not confined in a pot, either)
I used freshly cut raspberry canes as pea sticks (they all rooted)

                  oh, and many others

That is how I discovered how easy it is to root blackcurrent cuttings. My neighbours were delighted.

When helping my runner beans run up their support,I realised the most stubborn to run one...which therefore got the most time spent on...was actually bindweed!!!

A couple of nights ago Andi was wondering what herb had sprung up near the compost...he gave me a few leaves & I gave them a good rub in my hands to try to emit the scent...turned out they were stinging nettles!!!

I must add that both these mistakes were made towards the end of the day as the light was surrendering to night!
