  • Gardeners World diabolical.

Given we are almost towards the peak of the growing season, Gardeners World failed miserably to focus on anything worthwhile in that respect.
I wish someone would donate them a plot, because they seem to have lost theirs.
Never mind the TWADDLE here's the SIX PETALS.

I have watched every week for many years and also think it is at an all time low. Next week I think I will give it a miss and just go out and watch the rhubarb grow. That will be more informative.
Why didn't Noah just swat those 2 greenflies?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

Unfortunately they are not in touch with what is going on in relation to the GYO movement. As more and more people are taking up growing fruit and veg I would have thought that most of the programme would have been devoted to fruit and veg. Probably due to programme planners not living in the real world.

IMHO I find GW very middle/upper class! Some of the things they advocate are a ridiculous price.
My garden and allotment are hobbies and I'm not prepared to spend big bucks.
Probably only me, but hey ho!

I have to agree with all the above comments, after watching it this morning it's made me wonder why I bothered. I would love to see it go back to the Percy Thrower/Alan Titchmarch/Monty Don day's of good old fashioned style gardening with lots of verity even younger viewers could enjoy, with an hour long program...not this disjointed drivel of a half hour slot, that they seem to think will pass as a "Quality" gardening program.

I quite liked the cut flowers bit.

But nothing for GYO'ers apart from Alys's forest garden where she planted blackcurrants (? I think) on the edge of the forest garden.

Yes, I thought to myself, you're going to get loads of those out of a forest garden without netting them....

Not even a mention about boking 14 when she planting it, about it being sterile and non invasive, she didn't tell anyone to not use another sort, did she?

Well....I hope someone from there reads this thread!!!

I used to look forward to Friday evenings esp to watch GW.
It's been so long since I've watched it that I've actually completely stopped associating Friday evenings and GW.
Such a dreadful waste of potential.

I agree with all of the above, it seems to be something and nothing. I used to watch gw every Friday as a source of useful information, now I only watch it because there's nothing else to watch! I also agree with Snadger about the price of some of the things they are advocating. I for one don't have that sort of money. I think they have completely lost touch of the real world!

Fortunately I was otherwise engaged so I missed it. Our 'In Bloom' group had a fundraising evening at the village hall. Our professional florist team member did some amazing spring arrangements which were raffled afterwards to defray some of the cost. We served wine/fresh juice and home-made savouries and I demonstrated willow weaving, spoke about seed saving and gave away (in return for a small donation!) some heritage seeds. All round good evening - and all connected with gardening/flowers.
I can see I would have been aggravated to death had I stayed in and watch the programme!

I have just entered a competition on the GW website to win a spade. actually I need a new spade like a hole in the head but I was taking a break from the beds and was bored. One of the questions was:

'Which of the following will not increase organic matter in soil?'

                      a) Manure.

                      b) Compost.

                      c) Slug pellets.

If this is their standard all round....................................
Why didn't Noah just swat those 2 greenflies?

Are not the organic slug pellets make out of some sort of organic matter?

                          Just muddying the water

Right. Let's all send our dead (and live) slugs to Nicos.
