Wellie, Piskie ,Finedon.Dandy and Nicos were merrily returning to the Hamlet with rucksacs full of Fir cones after an early morning walk in the woods.
"These will look great sprayed gold and silver for the Xmas Fair" said FD..."thanks for helping me collect them!"

FD was in charge of the first Xmas Fair the hamlet had ever held.
"They should help boost funds for the Panto this year- anyone know which one has been chosen??"

"Well lets go and ask Piglet if he knows- I saw him earlier with HeyWayne sorting out the tubs in front of the Gardeners Rest...I fancy a glass of something red" said Wellie.

"Hey..look at that" said Piskie pointing to the duck pond in the village green.
There, paddling around in the mud, were a group of running ducks....
" Looks like Lynda has been up to her old tricks again " said Nicos....."Come on the fire's lit in the pub....I fancy some roasted chestnuts!"........

...called out HilaryB as she and HayleyB were back filling a hole in the Gardeners Rest garden....hoping like mad that no-one had noticed that they'd buried the Marmite sandwiches from the bar.

Jackie was helping Shortie out behind the bar, calling out for Piskie's ID for proof of age ( surely someone that small couldn't be over 21???)

Flummery and Maureen were already sat next to the fire, designing some quilted jackets for ex-battery hens.
" these will sell a treat at the Fair Flum...you're such a neat quilter!"

"Better not tell Lynda there's rabbit stew on the menu today"

Wren adds her muddy welly boots to the collection that is fast growing in the porch, and quickly swaps round everyone else's boots just to confuse them later after they have had a skin full
"Did somebody mention 'pea pod wine'" she Say's. "I have heard its moonshine along with the marrow rum".

*Joins Maureen and Flummery with a big glass o pea pod wine, and looks at the quilting with interest*

Sorry Wren but mine's a red, hey Nicos you been digging around in a six inch hole again, you're covered in woodchip. Had a close run in with Johnny Appleseed I'm sure he saw where we buried the *spit spit splutter* marmite. By the way Lynda's running around with matches again, bit worried for Stacey Steve there's not much more left to burn is there?

*Sits down with red wine (ta Wren) next to Aunty Flum and Aunty Mo

Cheers Wren. This looks like a nice place to curl up on a winter's evening

Over in the corner asleep in a comfy chair was Beefy. He had been out last night , mixed his drinks and tried to keep up with some of his younger mates . Today he was realising that this had not been a good idea . Several doses of painkillers had not helped so feeling throughly miserable he had cleared off to the pub looking for a quiet corner . It had been for the last 3 hours but that was about to change .
Suddenly from the cellar came strange sound...............
There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore and who always will. Don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it in your future.

Piglet ( emerging from the cellar) gave a sigh of relief....perhaps this year the Gardeners Rest wouldn't be trashed by the Grapes...."third time lucky" he hoped!

"Pea pod wine is tonight's special folks...I think there may be some chillied Rhubarb Schnapps left from last year...and a tad of Limoncello"

"We need to get our heads together about the Xmas Fair and Panto....not long before they are upon us!!!"
                      "Chick in Boots this year????"

Just at that point Lynda (who had heard someone mention Pea pod wine) came in. "I'm doing my best but I don't think I will have any chicks ready for the Panto"

A strange high whistling sound filled the room.

As everyone else's heads swiveled looking for the cause Nicos drily said "Don't worry folks, its either Piglet roasting his nuts, or Peter reading that post from Sue mistaking him for that bloke on Countdown."

She was right, Peter lumbered in through the door, steam subsiding gently from every orifice and said, "Have you lot heard the news? Just like those two Virtual World gamers a grape is getting divorced, cos their partner caught them digging someone elses virtual allotment on the Vine, anyone know who it is?"

"I know who it is!" said......

HayleyB doesn't realise I took the marmite sarnies before she got digging. (and nor does Nicos obviously). If everyone thinks they got buried, I can scoff the lot!
