Do any of you Frenchies have any idea of a bank that does a flexi style mortgage like we have in the UK.
I whinge often about the dinosaurus system of French banking, and this is another one.

This looks like what you could be looking for. Don't have one any more. Oh bliss!

Hmmm, I'm with CA and I went to see them and was told I couldnt do it. Because my mortgage is more than 4 years old its impossible to change. My parting shot as I left was that my account would be moving, and when asked why I replied "parce que le monde bouge." For those that watch French TV, you will understand the look I received.

Something like the Virgin 1 account or along those lines is what I'm really looking for. I'm earning decent cash at the mo, and I want to be able to chuck some more against my mortgage, as I could if I was in the UK without even thinking about it.

        But it says this :
combiné à d’autres crédits immobiliers (types prêts aidés ou épargne logement (1))
Perhaps you have a "responsable d'agence" who's a bit thick?

I was incredulous when he told me it couldnt be changed, so I demanded he phone le siege for assistance.
They gave him exactly the same reply, I've had my mortgage for more than 4 years so it cant be changed.

CA, for all the support and assistance they have given me over the last 15 years just havent moved with the times. I cant even pay a cheque into my account if I'm outside my department. Incredible.

I have been trying to find something similar, and Mme P went to her bank yesterday and asked on my behalf if they did such a thing, but it appears not. I may have to resort to getting a UK mortgage on my place to pay it off quicker, which I really dont want to do, but money is money and all that.

I may be wrong- but don't the French actually make you a loan as opposed to a mortgage????
