Default Freecycle

Had a good Freecycle weekend.

Saw a fridge freezer..for the garage, cos we get a glut of fruit a couple of times in the year and need to keep it till we can Jam it. So on with the trailer and got that

Got home to see "over ordered on Compost 1 ton in drive take what you can use"........Shovels in the trailer and off we went...she must have well over ordered cos it is was good two loads in the trailer...So we now have a nice mound like Monte Blone on the plot.

Get home and bloke has been a taken my old Laser Printer...which was the size of a mini.....

Very happy.

Isn't it great?! I'm busily getting shot of one flatbed scanner, one rusty old wheelbarrow, one old hedgetrimmer and a spare webcam. 17 emails in ten minutes - wow!

Someone asked on ours for apple tree cuttings for her pet rats to chew on. So I duly ask at my parents because thay have 2 large trees and in the freezing cold cut some branches for her. I email her to say they are ready come and collect them, so she replies 'oh she'll come by sometime- she has no transport'. Does she really expect me to deliver them too??? (That was 2 weeks ago and they are still sitting here )

There is a French Freecycle as well, many of the major cities have it. However the French (and I apologise in advance to any French people reading this) are notoriously tight. I am registed on one Freecycle site in the UK and 1 in France. Since registering on the French one over a month ago, I must have received close to 1500 emails from the English site and ........ 4 on the French one, and 2 of those were welcome ones. Ah well. Hopefully it will become more well known in the near future.

Yep occasionally you have to put up with a bit of that Ethansmum. I offered something to one bloke heard nothing so offered it to next in line and he took it then about 2 weeks later the first bloke comes back all grumpy that I had not held on to it for him.
NSB put in a wanted request on the Croydon group greenhouses come up quite often.

I get 50/50 timewasters and serious Freecyclers when I use the site, I reckon.
I was so incensed with one guy who made repeated appointments with me, then claimed dire ill health, and never did show up or phone to apologise for wasting two days of my time... that I reported him to the Mods. They said he'd been causing a lot of trouble like this, and they promptly banned him.

I am currently waiting back to hear on a girls bike, some packing boxes, and a nearly-new buggy for my sis. Service is a bit slow on Freecycle, some people don't have time to get back to you. I'm always surprised how very few people bother to email a 'thank you' afterwards, but there you go.
I last week got rid of a wardrobe, a coffee table, a dining table, and an exercise bike. It's better than dumping it all in landfill, huh?

I love it got 8 x 10 greenhouse, very large chest freezer, double buggy, and some kitchen units. and have got rid of quite alot too my local ones have got exellent mods as well, you can only put on a wanted every 2 weeks and we don't see those "wanted 48in lcd tv and playstation 3 " that you get on some the mods are really strict.

I hadn't thought about using freecycle for a greenhouse.
I can't stand the thought of so much waste going to landfills so much so I'm a washable nappy user

You need a Yahoo account. Get that then go to The Freecycle Network and "Browse groups". You're in Nort East.

Follow instructions.

Good luck.

My local freecycle is quite tight, most people want large electrical items, and offer 2nd hand clothes.

I love freecycle!
I got lately a strimmer and a huge water butt, and I manage to give away anything... even wood cutting or stones...
