  • Freecycle No Shows

I have waited in for someone to come collect courgette seedlings, they emailed me back and forth and emailed me twice while I was ill and not replying myself. Then we set a time for them to come and they don't show!!

Surely it's just polite to let someone know if you aren't coming for something they have offered for free!

Leave them outside the door with help yourself sign on them.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

And I'm sure you apologised to her for letting the whole vine know about her............

Um, of course I did! Oops....

Was so annoyed by people emailing back and forth then ignoring the final pick up email (it's seedlings, I had to wait until they were ready) that I maybe got angry too soon

I don't offer anything on Freecycle unless its ready for collection - then I leave it outside the front door so that I don't have to wait in. If its free.....

I tend to do much the same as you VC to save my time and theirs but I often find people will knock to say thank you. I find most people accommodating. Anyone who isn't polite isn't responded to.

I've had the opposite - driven 30+ miles to collect a compost bin only to find the donor was out. The next door neighbour informed me they had gone to Spain for a fortnight the evening before, and they hadn't left anything outside in the way of compost bins, as he would have noticed it.

Annoyingly, they had confirmed the collection date and time only the morning before.

I did think that, Taff. It did cross my mind, but they contacted me when they came home to ask why I didn't turn up! They had gotten their dates fuddled and thought I was coming the day before, even though I clearly stated the date & time. Don't know how they managed to get a holiday organised, let alone at the airport on the right day.

I never offer for something on freecycle unless I am dead sure I can get it collected. No shows annoy me too, so I try really hard not to be one!
